Next Gen Portable Storage
As someone who is always into the latest and greatest in technology, I’m not often easily impressed with some of my technology purchases. The Samsung T7 SSD drive is one of the few times I have been surprised, with the capabilities far exceeding my expectations. This device’s performance warranted me taking the time to share my experiences.I purchased this device for both work and personal reasons. I wanted to have something small and portable to allow me to take documents from work on the road. I also needed something that was secure, just in case it gets lost. This device checks all the necessary boxes and provided the sprinkles on top.My favorite things are the speed, security, and portability. I can’t believe how fast this drive is at transferring large data sets, even from my phone. Moving all the photos and videos from my phone to a computer works great and is fast. This is not your typical portable hard drive that takes 20-30 minutes to transfer data, this drive is done in a fraction of the time. The drive also comes with both USB C and USB A cables to allow you to plug into different devices. I also love the fingerprint scanner for security. It is fast, reliable, and provides the extra security I need.Lastly, since I’m not all work and no play, I tested the drive with my Xbox. Plugged it in as an external storage device to store some of my games on it. The Samsung T7 SSD can significantly help in load times of certain games. Of the few games I tried, I saw load times decrease by 30 seconds to 2 minutes. I will pickup a second one of these so I can have one dedicated to my xbox and one dedicated to my mobile storage needs.

BEST PORTABLE SSD
Really great external solid state drive from Samsung. My flex alpha only has 256gb so I needed something extra for all my back ups and to put the Halo Master Chief Collection on :) haha . Honestly was not sure how the fingerprint sensor was going to be based on other reviews but it is flawless. My trick is registering the same finger about 3 times, (I do this on my note 10+ as well and notice it helps tremendously with unlocking speeds), so immediately after unlocking my laptop by fingerprint, I place my finger on the SSD and in a fraction of a second we are in!Feels very secure knowing somebody cant just grab it and copy my pictures and everything.Works with just a password, or none at all. Should add you only need to place your finger once, even if you do a quick restart for your pc you will not need to unlock the drive again. Really like that part.I am using the type A usb to type C, because my C port is used by my docking station, and still get read and write speeds around 450-500 mbps using CrystalDiskMark, but you can get them even faster using type c to type c. Just thought I would add these are the max speeds for the older model and most other ssds so I am very happy with this still. One issue I have found using the SSD (all external drives not just the t7), is that when using it as storage for new apps, Like Halo 3 for me, I have trouble running applications that are saved to the external drive. Basically, if I am using ableton for a while or watching videos, etc., then go to play halo 3 it does not open. After a ton of searching I figured out that you need to go back to settings > storage settings > change where new content is saved > then change apps back to your C drive and hit apply. Change it back from C drive to SSD and hit apply. Problem solved. Not sure what causes this but it was really a pain and took forever to figure out such a simple solution. No issues with overheating that I have noticed whatsoever, I am very big on that one.I really could not believe how slim and lightweight this little guy is. Super impressive considering it still has that extremely solid and well built feeling. Love the fact it is not made out of plastic. I think this thing will last a very long time.Honest review of 5 stars but if this thing gives me any trouble I'll be sure to update.

Great External Hard Drive - Using with iMac
This is a very quality product, and the finger print security is a bonus.I bought this to use as my main hard drive for my iMac with a slow physical drive. It works awesome! The computer is so much faster and this makes the computer much more speedy. The processor and computer is very fast, but di not feel so due to the slow hard drive.Super quiet, (no moving parts) and very easy to set up. You should not even know I was using a separate drive it I did not keep it in view.Great purchase that I would make again. Great value for the price.

"No samsung portable ssd is connected" error fix method
The SSD is very sleek and fast response. When I connect to my Macbook pro, it gets detected, as I can go into the folder and copy stuff there, but the application for fingerprint security does not work. Even though it is connected to MacBook, it keeps on saying it is "disconnected, no samsung portable ssd is connected". Therefore the security system does not work, which is the reason for paying more for this.Edit:Open “Security & Privacy” in “System Preferences” menu and click “Allow” next to the message “System software from developer “Samsung Electronics” was blocked from loading”This works on bigsur OS.

Light and compact, reliable
Love the finger print touch log in. Makes it very portable. 500G is plenty enough for me to back up all my important files except pictures. I do not know the exact performance but it is good enough for my use.Had some problems with the finger print sensor at the beginning. After a while I found that the problem was my following the COVID instruction closely, may be too closely, by washing my hands frequently with hot water. The resulting flaky skin affected the sensor. After I started using hand creams the sensor log in worked every time.

Ultra compact, very fast, and secure
This will transfer large files very quickly, and very portable. It use AES-256 encryption to protect your data rest, but is easy to unlock with a fingerprint. I needed to download the Samsung app and plug T7 Touch drive into my phone to configure the bio metrics, but it was a smooth process. The drive comes with both a USB-A and a USB-C cable, so I can use it with both my old Linux laptop and my newer MacBook Air.
