Metal Earth 3D Model Kits - Star Wars Set of 4 - Darth Vader's TIE Fighter, R2-D2, AT-AT, Millenium Falcon

I saw the RD-D2 in a craft store and bought it, I never got to finish it but I had a great time. Then I decided to get this pack for my boyfriend's dad for Christmas 2014. He loves Star Wars and loves to build things. Turns out, it was too small for him to make it, so I made them all for him. They are so detailed and nice little decorations. Not to mention so much fun to build. All I used was a pair of tweezers to bend and twist things, and I used a pen for some of the parts the needed to be rounded, no glue used. He loved the so much and I love them so much I'm getting another pack of Star Wars for Christmas 2015! Just be careful, if you play with it for too long or bend it too far it might break off.

The first model I tried was the Tie Fighter. I pretty much completely botched it. Pieces broke off, my hands were shaking, I was frustrated beyond belief for most of it. The finished model looked terrible and was very flimsy because several tabs broke during construction. I was ready to throw the other three models away and post a one-star review.A couple weeks later I decided to try again, this time with the Millenium Falcon. My second attempt went MUCH better. I realized that PATIENCE is key to these models. Don't expect to just throw one of these together in an hour. Expect to spend several hours on each one. If you start to get frustrated or shaky, just put it down for a while and try later. Realize ahead of time that these are NOT easy to build.Also, I think it's BS when they say you only need tweezers. I'd definitely recommend at minimum:-tweezers with a sharp pointy end-a few different pliers (one needle-nose, one with a more flat tip, one needle-nose with a bend at the end for those hard to reach tabs)-a magnifying glass stand with a bright light (there are all kinds of these available, they are used by jewelers and miniature model makers. Any cheap one will work)-several different-sized round sticks for bending pieces into round shapes (not essential but helpful).

The finished models are beautiful but the building process is tedious. I'd highly recommend buying two sets because you will mess up the first one. The instructions suck, plain and simple. Some of the most complex folds are not detailed and you are left to figure it out on your own. You need to study the instructions and pay very close attention. I'd kicked myself a few times because I missed the tiniest of details. You need to keep a close eye on piece orientation as well, the instructions don't tell you. I'd recommend you build one, take note of your mistakes, and when you build the second one, it will come out much better.Build time for me (perfectionist) is 3 - 5 hours, depending on the model. Patience is of the utmost importance here. If you rush, it will look sloppy.R2-D2 is the hardest of the set. There are some complex folds and bends which if you don't get right the first time, the metal will break if you try to adjust.As far as tools, the instructions only mention needle nose pliers, if you only use needle nose pliers, your model will look like garbage. You need a set of precision tools. You need some strong needle nose pliers, different sized tweezers, a razor blade, a tiny flat head screw driver, some markers to shape the bends, a pair of regular pliers to make the folds and a set of metal cutters to get the pieces out of the sheets.The 3D view on their website helps by showing you how to fold the tabs.Definitely worth the time.

Great project for your Star Wars fan. These are a bit tricky to assemble but can be managed with time and patience. The set of 4 here are cheaper than you'll find at gift shops individually. We purchased the MF in Japan before finding on Amazon. No problem and the MF that came with this set went to a favority uncle who then promptly went out and bought the rest. Fun purchase

These are very nice and high quality. Not too difficult to put together but some patience is required.I was unable to attach the weaponry to the front of the tie fighter (my clumsiness and metal fatigue took care of one piece in short order); but they do give you one extra piece in case you mess up like I did. Didn't notice the extra piece until I had assembled everything else and there was no turning back. Don't make my mistake - you have a second chance!

Have to be a Santa elf with hands like a mouse and eyes like a hawk to see parts. Meant for 14 and older, probably due to the ore described. Too bad, really cool models. Nothing wrong with seller. Came as offered

Love these puzzles. R2 D2 was very difficult to get together as it is only held in a couple spots. Couldn't get it to stay together. Super glue has helped but still not the best. Have done the AT-AT and Millenium Falcon and they both look great. Just finished Darth Vader's tie fighter put together and while it was definitely tough around the cockpit area it looks great on my desk.Will definitely keep buying these. Best thing is to work on them in short bursts as it does get frustrating at times.

This was my first time putting these types of models together and I have to say, I had a blast. I built the Millennium Falcon first, then the AT-AT. A little trial and error, but overall I'm happy. They look great. Unfortunately when I went to assemble Darth Vaders Tie Fighter...... It was the battle droid! What?!? The one I wanted the least out of all the Star Wars models! When I went to see about return our exchange, the window had closed. Now what? When I go to order the other set I'm gonna be stuck with 2 battle droids and no Vader Tie Fighter. Gotta pay extra for that one now. Otherwise the product is money.
