So it's no surprise to have Hamilton--with John "Bucky" Pizzarelli--present this intimate tribute to Zoot Sims, who was widely acknowledged as a lifelong devotee of the Lester Young languid, breathy tenor sax style. Though Hamilton is a relative youngster, Pizzazrelli is a swing vet, a 70-something player who spent decades playing television music before cracking out in the 1970s with Benny Goodman and Zoot Sims, among others. As a pair, Pizzarelli and Hamilton play with all Zoot's heartfelt, slow-dawning emotion, from the wispy romance of "It Had to Be You" to Pizzarelli's hard-hitting, double-time strum solo on "Just You, Just Me." Listened to in an open room, this is relatively quiet music on the surface. But up close, it's beat-rich, with hopping rhythms handled by Pizzarelli's seventh string (allowing him to play bass lines). Moreover, it's delightfully precise in presenting Hamilton's tenor sax as a fluid thing of beauty. With Hamilton and Pizzarelli's newest and the recent Blue Note reissue of Jazz Alive!, a 1959 Sims super-session with Phil Woods, Al Cohn, and Mose Allison, Zoot is ready for a renaissance. --Andrew Bartlett

Who says white boys can't play jazz?
Scott Hamilton one of the best jazz sax men out there; Bucky and his son John, excellent jazz guitarists. Put them together --- all I can say is if your love jazz, get this album.

Bucky takes a back seat
Bucky loves playing rhythm guitar behind great soloists and they don't get much greater than Hamilton, whose tenor lays out some great standards.

smooth jazz at its best
To me, this CD is an excellent example of West Coast Cool jazz. If you're into Cool jazz (Zoot Sims, Stan Getz), you will simply love this album. If you're not -- and there's nothing wrong with that -- then this album isn't for you.Thank goodness wonderful musicians are still making music in this sublime and interesting style.

Total dullsville.
Very dull album. Just goes to show you HAVE to listen before buying. I wasted a lot of money on jazz before I got wise. I bought this on the recommendation of a guy I have bought many CD`s from. Sorry, But I think it is the two instrument thing. However, I have had some dull stuff from Scott before. I`ll take this one back and donate it to the store.

Scott Hamilton y Bucky Pizzarelli establecen una excelente complicidad, captada fielmente por los equipos de grabación y presentada por Concord con una calidad sonora que hace merecedor al sello de amplia confianza. Lovely Stuff
A Most enjoy album , Lovely stuff from these two Masters of Swing. Nice to see Zoot remembered with such a fitting tribute to one of my all time favorite swinging Tenors of the Woody Herman band , feel Dear would give this album 5 stars.

サックスとギターのデュオの名盤
現代のビ・バップ・ジャズの旗手スコット・ハミルトンとギターの大御所バッキー・ピザレリのデュオ。テナー・サックスの名手、故ズート・シムスへのトリビュート盤だ。トリビュート盤は、大御所のマイルスやコルトレーンに捧げたものが多いが、どうも売らんかなの商業主義的臭いがするモノが多いが多いがこのアルバムはいい。なにより名手ではあるが、大御所でななかったズート・シムスに捧げているのが気持ちいい。選曲はズート・シムスの曲が多いが「イット・ハド・トゥー・ビー・ユー」や「イッツ・オールライト・ウイズ・ミー」などの名曲がいい。（松本敏之）

Der Tenorsax-Ton von Mr. Hamilton ist traumhaft warm und weich (Zoot Sims und Stan Getz-Freunde werden begeistert sein!). Bucky Pizzarellis Gitarrenspiel auf jeden Fall rhythmusfest aber unspektakulär. Auf älteren Aufnahmen hat er doch etwas mehr mit der rechten Hand gemacht. Seine Technik verdient aber dahingehend besondere Beachtung, weil er quasi eine komplette "Rhythmsection" ersetzt. Zeitloser Mainstream von zwei Könnern interpretiert.
