Works well
Bottom line... these baluns work and are saving us $22 a month. Ghosting? I haven't seen it. The video isn't as perfect as a direct HDMI connection but I'm only using a 40 inch TV to watch it and it would take a side-by-side comparison to show the difference. The Dolby Digital audio decodes just fine.Back story: When we built our house in early 2006, I had four Cat-5 cables pulled to the "family room" and "great room" locations where we would place TVs (plus coax for cable/satellite, etc.). These cables home-run to a single location in the basement. Obviously, these support network/Internet, but they work well for these baluns, too.The basement "rec room" is our main location for "dedicated" TV watching, but the great room is near the main-floor kitchen where the family gathers after school until dinner is over and dishes are done. We have "basic" HD cable from Comcast, and have their HD DVR connected to the rec room TV. Comcast wanted $22/month for the second HD DVR for our great-room TV; that was simply too much. So, here's our solution:The basement rec room HD DVR is connected directly to the TV through an HDMI cable and to the amp with a fiberoptic cable. The HD DVR's component video and coax digital audio is connected to one balun, and the balun is connected to a Cat-5 cable. I connect that Cat-5 to a Cat-5 going to the great room. In the great room I connect the other balun to the TV's component video input and the amp's coax audio input. I added a "remote extender" from the great room to the rec room so we can operate the HD DVR from upstairs. Now, all HD channels and everything on the rec room's HD DVR is available in both rooms. $100 for the baluns and about $50 for a remote extender versus $22/month to Comcast.

not happy with unit
item never arrived in pairs as mentioned in the question and answer section of the item profile. It was not acceptable to me to have to increase the picture settings to compensate for the signal loss. Went with an active, amplified, (no loss) unit instead.

Ghosting
Major disappointment. Ghosting at any resolution with cat 5 cabling over about 40 feet. Digital audio works great.

You need to order 2 of these.
This is a single unit and you need 2 to make a pair.I wish it said so in the description.Other than that, it works great. No problems.

Awesome
Exactly what I needed. Thank you! They arrived in different shipments which was a little bit of a challenge, but otherwise everything was great.

100'+ Cat-5 run, great picture. Cleared up problem previously had by lesser baluns.

Low ghosting solution
Some of the passive component repeaters suffer from image ghosting. This unit is much better in that capacity than most, at least under 100 feet.

Works Perfect
This product works perfect. I wired my Cat5e connections to the T568A standard and have had no issues whatsoever over 25 Feet of Cat5e cable. Not sure how much difference it makes but my connections start from the device to a RJ45 jack over the cable and punched down to a Cat5e jack. From there it goes through a connecting Cat5e cable to the other device.
