Agate Mortar and Pestle Standard Form, 50x40x12mm labware

Fast shipping, well packaged (lots of bubble wrap), high quality product. Mortar's outside surface is matte, grinding surface is polished to a gloss. The pestle is also polished to a gloss.Minor issues: The color does not match that in the picture or description (picture showed a black mortar an pestle set, but the mortar in the set I received was white while the pestle was black). Normally I wouldn't mind the color, but I had a specific application in which I needed a dark mortar. Also, the interior gloss grinding surface has a single small patch of irregularity that is a little bit rough (like the matte exterior of the mortar).I still rate the product 5 stars because it is of good quality and I want to encourage others to consider it. Aesthetically, it is a beautiful mortar suitable for both laboratory use (could also be used at home for spices, etc.). Nevertheless, be aware that the color you receive may be different what is shown in the picture.

Lab quality item at a quarter the price. Aside from a tiny 2mm long imperfection near the top of the bowl (which will never be an issue) this is what you would get from a laboratory supply house at a much higher price point.Based on other reviews which describe similar imperfections, I'm guessing that these were the rejects, sold at a discount. That explains the price, but for all intents and purposes, any unlikely effects from the tiny imperfection would be negligible. This is a great deal.

It's smaller than you picture in your mind, but still a nice little medical/lab unit.All agate m&p I look at are expensive.....not sure why. Agate isn't that expensive.This is a nice little mortar and pestle.
