I have watched the PBS series of the Durrells on Corfu and throughly enjoyed it. Then I discovered this delightful book and readily equated the author to the youngest son in the series. This book is every time thing I expected it to be - delightful and entertaining.

This is a tremendous animal wildlife book that I didn't want to see end. I first heard of Gerald Durrell from the PBS series of The Durrells of Corfu and until reading this book had no idea of this great man's work and of the books he has written. I intend to read more of his works and heartily recommend this one to you.

so much fun to read, i saw the series on pbs and had to have more...also love his whole point of view on conservation! GO ANIMAL LOVERS!!!

Gerald Durrell: I read him in my youth, have given him away many times, and re-read him still....

Durrell has tales to tell about his animals and tells them in a most descriptive way. This is the second of his books which I have read.

mr. durrelll has never written anything i don't absolutely love. check out his books about growing up on corfu with his insane family. they are not to be missed.

This is an easy, fast and enjoyable read about animals by a wonderful author. I recommend it to older children and adults who are interested i. Learning about animal behavior and tribulations of starting a zoo/rescue compound.

GOOD BUT NOT AS GOODV AS HIS OTHER BOOKS BUT STILL VERY GOOD.

This is a very interesting book. We have been to Jersey many times for our holidays and always go to the zoo. It is lovely to read how it all began for him there. It is a beautiful place, with plenty of space for the animals and lots of parkland. Reading this book took me back there. Strongly recommend.

I've really enjoyed all the books I've read so far. vaguely remember seeing him once or twice on tv when I was a child and discovered his books on this site. if I remember rightly the Corfu trilogy was a television series on quite a few years back, although I don't think it captured my imagination with his book did.I could really imagine myself there exploring the countryside, the scent of the country having visited numerous times on holiday, happy memories.

Disappointing

A pleasure to read this book, filled with great humour & Ive laughed so much. Read it in 2 days & I've just ordered another 3.

All Gerald Durrell's books are good. You learn so much
