Does the steel hook extend through the handle, or is it a short tip glued into the end of the handle?

Yes, the steel crochet hooks extend through the whole handle,not glue into the soft grip, so you don't worry about the hooks will be come off from handle.

Anyone know if the handles are removable? I put them on my "good hooks".. I had to replace a couple of hooks and need the handles..

These handles are not removable. I've ordered at least 3 sets. I loose hooks.... And, I don't see how you could remove the handles.
