Avana Back Wedge Acid Reflux Memory Foam Pillow with Cooling Tencel Cover, 8”, 8" Height, Original

I have suffered from acid reflux for many years and sleeping at night has been increasingly difficult for me. In the past, I propped my head on pillows or slept sitting upright against the bed's headboard to keep stomach acid from moving into my esophagus. That is until I decided to purchase a wedge pillow. My father, who also suffers from acid reflux, purchased a wedge pillow which I tried out and didn't like. It was not comfortable to sleep on and was not firm enough to keep my head elevated for an entire night. I was fortunate to discover the Avana Back Wedge Pillow when searching online. It has the necessary height (8"), firmness, and construction that I needed. The pictures of the pillow online do not do it justice. As soon as I opened the box and saw it "expand" from the casing (it is vacuum packed), I was elated. I like it so much that I use it for reading at night as well as for sleeping. I have been using it for 3 weeks now and have yet to experience acid reflux while sleeping on it (of course, it does not cure the source of the acid reflux but keeps the stomach acid in the stomach where it belongs). It was not difficult to adjust to sleeping with the head elevated because the pillow is so comfortable. I highly recommend this product to anyone needing to control acid reflux when sleeping.

This pillow wedge is exactly what I have been looking for, as I like to watch TV in bed, so I was looking for a durable and comfortable wedge that would accommodate myself, and I wouldn't just sink in to it. This is just what I was looking for, I had a pillow like this many years ago when I was a child with asthma, and I had to sleep at an incline to aid my breathing. I remember how comfortable I was, and how watching TV when I was sick was a real pleasure using this pillow. Well I still at 51 suffer from asthma, not as bad as when I was a child, but it can get that way, and using this pillow is a pleasure. It's comfortable, firm, and cool to lay on. i don't sink into it, and its not mushy. Just what the Doctor ordered!!!

Would have liked it a little higher at the top.

I'm going to sound like I was paid to write this. I promise I wasn't.This is one of the best purchases I've made recently. I'm telling everyone to try sleeping on a wedge pillow!I ordered the 8-inch because I was worried the 12 would be too tall and difficult to get used to. I do use a pillow on top of the wedge pillow and it still works great. I'm a side sleeper and have had no problems getting used to this!I have acid reflux and recently had to go off of my medication for it. Nightime reflux sucks, and no amount of stacking up pillows to raise my head was working, so i figured I'd try this.Not only did it help immensely, but it also cut my snoring down almost completely. I've always been a heavy snorer. I don't have apnea, I do have allergies, but nothing seemed to help - until this.So, not only am I sleeping through the night, I wake up without reflux and feeling better than ever!Seriously - I used to nap every day because I was so tired. Now I don't have to because I'm sleeping so much better!If you snore, have allergies, have reflux, or anything else that might benefit from this - BUY IT. What do you have to lose at this point except more sleepless nights!?

This wedge is firm. Not medium firm. It feels nice, the material is nice and soft. But unfortunately this was not good for the pressure points in my back. Laying on the pillow bothered my pressure points and would not allow me to sleep. I have had a run in with the acid reflux so I tried this pillow out. I still use it. I use it for my feet when I'm sitting. When my feet feel tired, I put them on the pillow and it feels better.

VERY comfortable. It is very luxurious feeling. I have the 8" high one which seems just right for sleeping - I sleep on my back and side. I use a small buckwheat hull pillow with it and that seems to work very well.Has helped a lot with my GERD and breathing issues. And is just really, really comfortable for me.With a regular pillow on top, it is perfect for me to read and watch TV. I have back issues and this is much better than some of the other reading pillows I've tried.Only issue is my wife thinks it needs a cover - she says the white area looks like a mattress or something. I'm not sure the company sells pillow covers for this size, plus they are white and this needs a darker cover, maybe the same color as the side, to make it look more upholstered or like something you would leave on top of the bed.

Do not spend the extra money for the cool gel, you definitely can not feel the difference. I don't know if it is me or the pillow, but it causes me neck pain. I have not found a way to wake up still in a good place on the pillow. I may have bought too high of a wedge, so I am not willing to blame my neck pain solely on the pillow just yet. If I can figure out how not to slide down and have my neck in a weird position, I'll update this. But a plus was that it came odorless.

This item is exactly as pictured. The cover is made well & very soft quilted top. I'm 5'7 & the pillow length goes from my waist to 2" above my head. Plenty in width to support while watching TV or reading. It's very firm foam. It helps breathing a lot. With a small pillow or neck roll I might suggest the 10" in. Wedge for most people with breathing problems, I'm Athasmatic and tired of sleeping in a recliner. It's hard to know which to buy if you've never had one before. The quality is excellent but even for me the 10" wedge would have been better if you want to use an additional pillow on this on the 12" wedge. It's somewhat heavy and does not shift in the night.
