TOPENS AT602 Dual Swing Gate Opener

Topens AT602 system installed March 2024 and I am very satisfied with the result. I had emailed Topens prior to installation for some advice in relation to what kit would suit my gates and I recieved excellent customer service from Laura, the information that was provided was very helpful and I opted for the AT602. The installation was straight forward and I found that the manual / guidance provided with the kit was extremely easy to follow even with my limited electrical knowledge. (Pay attention to installation section relating to requirements for distancing to centre of the gates / hinges and brackets etc). Along with additional keyfobs and a wireless keypad I also purchused the Wi-Fi adapter (TC196) which is an excellent addon to the system (allows you to open / close the gates remotely from an app on your phone). The TC196 was out of stock on Amazon but I was able to order directly from Laura at Topens customer support. Over all I am extremely satisfied with the cost of the kit, ease of installation and its operation and would definitely recommend it.

I bought the kit ahead of my builders installing posts and gates, which was then delayed by 2 months. When I got to install the kit, the 30 days Amazon return window had closed, and unfortunately one of the arms had an issue where the gate would either be fully open, or closed, and then stop responding. I contacted Topens support and received excellent responses from them - clear instructions on troubleshooting, and timely responses to my replies to them. Once it was agreed that the arm was a faulty, a replacement was sent immediately. The features are sensible - gate speeds, stall force settings, arm travel, master / slave arm, auto closure time, etc. and with the use a a seven segment display, setting them on the controller were very easy. The installation video available is well worth watching before installing, as it familiarises you with the product and process, ahead of doing it. The only negative is the video recommends twiddling the extension cable to arm wires together, and then wrapping them in tape, however soldering them is ideal, but at the very least use a screw down connection block and an IP62 or better connector box.

I bought this product because it said it was a good DIY option for self fitting, with easy to follow instructions. They couldn’t have been more right ! This product was so easy to fit, with very easy to follow instructions including connecting the electrics - which I wasn’t looking forwards to. It was so easy to fit, and once the quick set up was completed, they look and work fantastic !! I couldn’t be more happy with this product at all, and would recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone who wants a simple DIY project. Thanks Topens

AOPENS AT62 DOUBLE SWING GATE OPENERS. This was easy to install once you got the hang of it, and followed the instructions which were comprehensive. The openers are a rugged piece of kit which should stand the test of time, provided they are maintained as required. Installation into the control box is very easy, providing the diagrams are followed. I now feel that my security has now been improved with the added bonus of not getting wet. As my installation was not straight forward I did need help from customer services, which were great.

This is a brilliant product. Needed to mechanise the double driveway gates I had built out of old fence posts (found in the shed of my new property) and some rather pricey cedar cladding. Curved bow-tops thanks to my trusty router. The openers arrived within a couple of days with an excellent installation manual. The only problem was that all the gates would open on command only one of them would shut. On to Topens Customer Service where the brilliant Lori helped to diagnose a limit switch failure. A replacement was in the post that day, with Lori's assurance that my fitting it to the opener would not invalidate the guarantee. A couple of hours with spanner and Allen key and the gate would close again. Thanks to Lori and a first-class product.

good quality product for dual gate opener, clear instructions for installation and plenty of videos to help with installation if required. Gate openers opperate smoothly on open and close and fairly quiet in operation,bit fiddly adjusting gates to close in line but easy enough to do. Fitted the Topens gate lock with the openers, bit pricey for the lock but worth it as keeps the gates in line but needs to have a stopper at the bottom of gates, they don,t supply the stopper, just cut down a piece of flat steel plate and inserted into ground

ANOTHER FAILED OPENER! I am tired of this junk now. Yet another opener has failed. It opens but won't close. Manually wind it out, it opens...doesn't close. I cannot say this enough. Avoid this brand like the plague. There is literally no point is having continued replacements when they are all as unreliable as one another. I will be asking for a refund and buying a different brand. Avoid, avoid, avoid. OK I need to update this review because following it, Topens reached out to me to offer a refund for the replacement arms, which is much better service than expected/had previously and from that perspective I give the service 5 stars. As I say, I was not expecting this at all, so all credit to them! I cannot in all good conscience give a 5-star review as I still have doubts around the longevity of their products due to the sheer number of failures I've experienced so the hardware itself right now gets 3 stars and I would still say caveat emptor. In terms of the issues I've seen, I will list them: I originally bought the HJ4022 openers as the gates they're connected to are fairly light wooden. These gates have no limit sensors but rather work on pressure to determine if they're fully open or fully closed. They also open one arm first but close it first as well, which limits the kind of stops you can use. They were tricky to set up but eventually I was happy with them. For a very short time. We went through, I think, four replacement sets over the next few months before Topens suggested returning them and getting the AT602's. These, on the face of it, are a much better beast. For one they have limit switches which makes it much easier to set them up. However, be warned - these have a tendency over time to move slightly, causing gaps. And there was always an element of movement in the gates as well. So, to that end I invested in an ET24 electronic lock. Again, this worked for a few months before it began to behave erratically. If you can imagine, the locking mechanism is like the moving part of a Yale lock, but hollow - imagine a curved > kind of shape. When the lock closes, it locks over a rather narrow pin. The problem started that the pin moved behind, into the hollow, which then jammed it from unlocking. You have a key to unlock manually but it's spring loaded and doesn't stay open. Unfortunately to stop the jamming I had to remove the pin. Eventually I had to remove the lock entirely and a much cheaper Aliexpress one worked so much better (not least because the > shaped part is solid, not hollow and the pin is about 120% thicker). And then, last week, one of the arms didn't stop opening. It went past the limiter and kept going. I believe this is what broke the magnet for the reed sensor. I had to cut power to the gates before I was able to remove the arm! Now this set lasted around 20 months, so less than two years. There is also no facility, programmatically to prevent the gates from closing - you have to use a physical switch wired in in place of the photocells (and it isn't clear if you can use this in parallel of the photocells or not). Ultimately, this is why I suggest using caution before purchasing.
