Excellent! 90% as Effective, 100% Safer!
THE SKINNY:• effectively kills and deters• provides peace of mind and worry-free usage• long-lastingEXTENDED REVIEW:I actually learned of Orange Guard in a conversation I had when I had the opportunity to meet the owner and creator of Orange Guard as he and his family live in my small town. I wasn’t necessarily in the market for a big spray, but after asking what he did for a living, I later went online and read more about the product.Though I’ve since purchased it online, I initially bought OG at a local hardware store after discovering I had a small stream of ants underneath my kitchen sink.USAGE:Normally, rather than attempting to kill ants by smothering my house with product, I prefer vacuuming up all visible ants and using a spray to create a sort of seal or deterrent near and around key entrance points. That way I’m neither breathing in or smelling copious amounts of chemicals. With Orange Guard, I don’t have to be nearly as scrutinizing over how much product I’m spraying as it’s both entirely natural and non-toxic. I still use the vacuum method to limit how much spray I’m using, but only bc it’s still got a pretty pungent smell.SMELL:The first thing you’ll notice with OG is in fact the smell... it’s a VERY concentrated citrus smell. Though it doesn’t smell “bad” (in fact I kind of like the way it smells), even the best smells can be overwhelming in large doses (think of that guy at the club who felt he needed 10 sprays of Drakkar Noir... nauseating!). Plus, it’s is rather acidic and such a concentrated amount can find its way to the back of your throat or deep within your nostrils, so no need to overdo it!Perhaps the worst invention was when popular brands of the poisonous alternative started adding scents to their products — I can’t think of a more dangerous and disregarding practice than attempting to mask something harmful with something pleasant, effectively causing people to spray and breathe high amounts of poison bc it no longer smelled of poison.EFFECTIVENESS:If we’re being entirely honest, OG is not as effective as it’s chemical-based alternatives. Like nearly all nature-based products — from cleaning supplies to detergents to medicine— custom-designed chemicals are hard to compete against. I’ve found the chemical-based products work FASTER, LONGER, and are ultimately more EFFECTIVE at both killing and deterring.HOWEVER... Orange Guard is still a highly effective product and while not necessarily the most capable, it absolutely gets the job down. But when you take into consideration the fact you’re not filling your home, and ultimately your LUNGS and the lungs of your loved ones, with harmful, probably cancer-causing toxins, it’s a no-brainer. I’d gladly take a product that’s roughly 85% as capable but 100% safer and healthier. Because ultimately all we’re really talking about are ants. And while admittedly annoying, I’m not ready to believe they’re so annoying as to justify willingly bringing poison into your home, your floors, your cabinets, and your bodies!

Excellent ant deterrent for 5-precept Buddhists!
This stuff works really well to deter ants, although there are some drawbacks. The spray DOES work to deter black ants away from their trails. They disappeared from my infested kitchen after I sprayed their trails. However, this isn't a permanent deterrent. You have to reapply the spray after 2-3 days and continue to keep the infested area pristine to prevent recurrence of ants. The drawbacks are mild: the spray leaves a sticky residue and it has a very loud orange smell. However, the smell is fairly pleasant especially after opening a window for ventilation. It's really just a super strong orange scent. Could definitely be worse, and it fades after 2-3 hours.I have a cat and spray around the cat food area. The spray's scent and sticky residue do not harm my cat, which was very important to me.In sum: although this product has a couple drawbacks, it is an EXCELLENT temporary ant deterrent that has given me peace of mind. I am relieved and grateful that I don't have to break the first precept in order to eliminate the ants from my kitchen.Update April 11, 2023: I haven't seen a single ant since I wrote this review. I've only reapplied the spray twice since I last wrote this review. Seriously, this stuff is fantastic as long as you make the effort to keep the formerly-infested area free of crumbs!Update May 25, 2023:I have not seen a single ant in my kitchen ever since I first wrote this review over a month ago, and I haven't had to reapply the spray since April. This stuff is the real deal and it WORKS.Update July 27, 2023:Still no ants in my kitchen and I haven't reapplied since April. This stuff is amazing!!

It works
I had no problem until the apartment complex put down new mulch. I saw the first ants a week after they started and, a week later, ants were everywhere. Delivery was on time and in good order. Better still, Orange Guard works: the ants' numbers dramatically decreased after the first application. As others have noted, Orange Guard has a fairly intense -- though not obnoxious -- odor and it leaves the surfaces on which it is sprayed a bit sticky. In my experience, the odor largely disappears after a couple of hours and the sticky (and, I am certain, some of the protection) goes away with washing. Orange Guard is not a "one and done" solution. Multiple applications are necessary: I started using it 2 days ago and suspect I'll need to apply it at least 2~3 more time over the next week or 10 days before I return to pre-mulch conditions. Although Orange Guard is not perfect, I'm glad I bought it.

We have serious ants, but this tends them
This stuff is pretty innocuous for humans and dogs, but zap ants fast. I can wipe up the ants but leave a thin layer of the orange oil, and it keeps the ants away for a day or two. The smell is fresh and natural, but strong. I like this stuff.

Works!
Fantastic! I could make an honest commercial. the first was a gift to me, now I will order a refill and gift to another. Living in Hawai'i often times we have uninvited "guest"-especially ants in the spring. I spray it by my front door and crevices

Missing pump
Product arrived without pictured pump on bottle. Had to transfer contents to a spray bottle.
