Yarn - Rios - Whole Grain 696

Love this yarn but had to give this less than 5 stars because the skein was less than 100g. I am finding that to be a consistant problem with Rios. One skein was only 93g so if 100g equals 210yds, 1g equals 2.1yd and a shortage of 7g is a shortage of 14.7yds.

Be sure to buy all the hanks you think you may possibly need for your project. I bought 3 hanks from two different suppliers. The color first hank of "Iris" was just as you might expect: mostly purples, with a little green. Gorgeous. The two hanks I subsequently bought in Iris looked absolutely nothing like the first hank. Very little purple, mostly green shades. The shawl I made was ---well---hideous. I spent days crocheting it, and hate to throw it out. Besides, Malabrigo yarns are pricey. Anybody want a lacy shawl that's 1/3 purple, and 2/3 green?? Going cheap!

This is the best yarn I’ve ever tried yet.Very soft, not itchy at all, it’s a very nice strong thread. It won’t break, well made!Also, just FYI because it’s a handdye yarn the color on each yarn might be a little bit different, or might not. It depends, but it’s nothing serious.Very easy to knitt with. I’m working on sweater and it looks very colorful!You can use 6-8 needle size, that’s what they suggest. I have Chiaogoo needles, I knitted a small piece of it to see what size is better for knitting and figured that for making a sweater size 5 gonna work great. But also, because I’m xsmall size and I want it to be more tigh.It’s all up to you what needles you want to use. And yeah, before start doing any projects knitt a sample of this yarn, so you can see how it’s gonna work.I definitely recommend it.

I don't buy yarn online very often, but since I have been trying to stay in as much as possible, I did. This yarn is nice, but it is a bit thin for worsted weight, and I was hoping the color would be more vibrant with more variation since it is hand dyed. It's a dark red, not what I would have thought for "cherry." And while it is soft, it is definitely on the pricey side. I don't think I'll be using it for the project I had in mind, and now I'm not sure what to do with it. Guess I'll have to brave an actual store to get what I want.

I appreciate the convenience of shopping on Amazon but knowing I am purchasing from a small business. $15.40 is the best price you can usually find per hank for Malabrigo + free shipping - even on just one - cannot beat it.The yarn itself I personally love. It is true it is on the thinner/lighter side for a worsted weight yarn. I find it very soft, love the colors, and it knits up beautifully. I love that Rios is a superwash wool for ease of care. I am currently using it in multiple projects.This time I purchased just one hank of Lotus, because despite many other choices, both my daughters want THIS ONE for the hats I’m making them, and I only had the one. The new one I received is not quite as vibrant as the other - but it doesn’t matter, the hats will be on two different heads. I also fully expected this, given the other was purchased about 3 years ago. Lol. It’s actually more similar than you might expect under those circumstances - very obviously the same color way (which is a soft, beautiful mix of lavenders, purples, light blue/aqua/teal). I’m pretty sure it came from the same seller because I remember the tissue wrapping and handwritten note. Thank you, Jenny! :)

the weight and texture of this yarn is very nice... it's a bit off from the color shown, but yarn and fabrics are tough for pics unless you have perfect lighting, etc... It's being used with some other yarns too (hand dyed , spun art yarns - needed some "bulk" with them ) , and it should blend in nicely... I'd most likely buy it again but I'd also like to be told ahead of time that I need to go and pick this up at my post office. I didn't get a notice from amazon, the seller or my post office that I needed to go and get it so it sat for 3 days... with USPS you never know what could happen, but I'm reading SH directions a LOT better now!

Lovely yarn. Just lovely. However the four I received were such blatantly different colors that they couldn't be used as intended. Yes. I understand that these are small batch and kettle dyed and there’s no dye lots but..... one ball is pink, almost exclusively and the next was green. And not a good green. Alternating skeins wasn't the answer either since they aren't even the same color family!

I am very pleased with the yarn I received. It was exactly what I was looking for to complete a project but had been unable to find in stores. I appreciate how it was wrapped in paper, rather than an additional plastic bag. I was surprised to find a sweet hand written note inside. Very personalized experience.

Lovely colour and comfortable to wear. Made a nice soft shawl. Excellent price.
