Product Description BROTHERS OF THE NIGHT follows a group of young Bulgarian Roma who move to Vienna in search of adventure and freedom, but poverty drives them to sleep with older men for money. Boys by day and kings by night, they're sucked into the allure of a nocturnal lifestyle while striving to support their families and children back home. Here, though, they find comfort and togetherness in the ability to be young and reckless. An official selection at the Berlin Film Festival this wild and surreal docu-drama from director Patric Chiha (Domain) takes cues from Fassbinder, Pasolini, and Grodecki while forging a new and exciting narrative path of it's own. Review Had Fassbinder shot a documentary about Viennese prostitutes, it would look like this --FilmstartsCombines elements of Genet, Pasolini, Kenneth Anger... A film of real beauty --Les InrockuptiblesA hybrid, imbued with a rich baroque semi-darkness --Berlinale

like violence-crazy. I was struck by how abusively they ...
This is more of a docu-drama than any other genre. It was real guys from Bulgaria, a real nightclub in Vienna and real older "Johns" picking up these "straight" younger guys. What I found interesting is the way in which the director framed the story of these mostly married, straight guys who travel to Bulgaria to be "gay-for-pay", essentially. Some of these guys seemed almost crazy...like violence-crazy. I was struck by how abusively they talk of their wives...paying their families (Fathers, brothers), for them is apparently still a thing in this day and age. They do seem to love their children, but not so much their wives. Violence also seems to be second nature to them and it is incredible how easy they get in to fights, even with each other. There is no sex depicted, whatsoever, and I found this to be more a documentary of a the time they spend in Vienna and a snapshot of this particular moment in their lives. Some of them are still very immature, emotionally, but extremely grown up and worldly in their daily struggle to survive. It's worth a watch if only to give yourself a new perspective of eastern European life for those much less fortunate than we, here in the United States.

A documentary about male gipsy's in Vienna..
Shot entirely in a seedy bar, chain smoking and dialect that have nothing to substance for a story. It's the same thing all over western Europe.

This is a documentary and not a bad one at that.
I thought this was a fictional movie when I purchased it. Instead it's a documentary about young men who sell sex. If you are looking for sexual scenes, you won't find it here. Instead it's interviews and what it's like to hang out with these guys. It's uninteresting and boring. I love documentaries, but NOT THIS FILM.

Is it a documentary or a movie?
A group of young Bulgarian Roma who move to Vienna in search of freedom, find poverty that drives them to sleep with men for pay. THis was such a jumble or garbage that i have no idea where to start. These men thump their chests and tell each other how masculine they are and how many women they want to have and they all talk about prostitutes so they have to pay for it too, all the while leeping with men and claiming that they are only doing it for the money, it is obvious that most are enjoying it, too. Was this a documentary or some cheap movie? Whichever one it was it was just bad, no one was memorable in any way. Oh, if these men aren't gay why do they like to sleep with each other? Don't bother with this drdeck.

Absolutely Awful!
Like one reviewer has already noted, just endless talking ad infinitum! Extremely low budget and no purpose. The last 10 minutes are just dancing around in some bar they frequent to pick up tricks. Other than that, nothing!

Awful.
I can think of absolutely no redeeming qualities for this movie. From terrible acting to terrible cinematography throughout, this viewed more like an undergraduate level film on a budget of a hundred dollars. I want my money back.

Worst movie ever
Worst movie ever. Pointless. Characters yammer endlessly about how they are not gay but are gay for pay. I lost brain cells just watching this.

Une fiction documentaire magistrale
Le réalisateur nous convie dans un documentaire avec une mise en scène en hommage à Fassbinder et Jean Genet. Le défi est réussi, les personnages sont attachants...
