AMERISLEEP AS5 Memory Foam Mattress - Full (Soft) Plant Based Material Made 100% in USA 20-Year Satisfaction

I purchased this mattress from Amerisleep website in April of 2017, at first my wife and I thought this was the best mattress since sliced bread But oh boy where we WRONG!!!!!! It has been just over a year and this mattress has turned into a marsh mellow of BACK PAIN =( it really has lost all ability to cradle a person, it just sags and rolls you to the middle of the bed where it applies the worst pain upon your lower back imaginable. I have checked with the returns/warranty department and their response was we do not cover "Natural softening" of our $$1200 memory foam mattress. PLEASE be aware of this before handing over your hard earned money.

This mattress turned into a marshmallow taco in under a year. Reached out to the seller and got no response, no resolution.

Cautionary tale - we have had these mattresses for 2 1/2 months now and find them to be comfortable, certainly better than our previous mattress, sleep improved. We purchased 2 twin XL vs a king. They opened and fluffed up as stated, however they are not the same thickness - one is correct at 12”, the other is about 11”, not really a big deal. They are firmer than described, so we decided to order the toppers. We had to order the toppers from Amerisleep directly (vs Amazon) - big mistake! Shipping was late, no updates etc., when they did arrive the actual toppers had no labels, paperwork, instructions, care guide etc., just foam, condensed, wrapped in plastic, put into a shipping box. When I tried to confirm that what was in the box was what we ordered, they could not do so. The service rep said “he guessed that that was what was in the box because that was what we ordered”. At this point we were concerned about the lack of service - so - still in the original box, untouched, we asked to return them. Amerisleep does not offer a sleep trial for bedding, which includes toppers, (for sanitary reasons ???) - but -PER THE WEBSITE - unopened products may be returned. We left everything as shipped, untouched, and followed their website instructions and requested a return authorization. However hidden away in the fine print - “terms and conditions” is a paragraph which states that toppers are not returnable - this is in direct conflict with their website advertising “other return policies”, which clearly states that unopened bedding is. Amerisleeps “terms and conditions” must come up when you access the website - I honestly don’t recall seeing it, but did see “other return policies”. Very sneaky.I’m sure by now you know where this is going - it’s been almost 3 weeks of emails, and they will not accept this return. Initially we had no desire to return them - we were happy with the mattress purchased through Amazon, so we thought we would try their other products, but their service was so evasive and lacking we just got a bad vibe. Our advise is this - do your research and shop with a seller you trust (like Amazon). Amerisleep has gone out of their way to refuse this small return - in direct conflict with their website advertising, honestly at this point I’m afraid to send them back (should they agree) fearing that they will just not issue the refund. Live and learn - Buyer beware.

This bed keeps you very cool and is extremely comfortable. I purchased the A4 and it was not too soft. I am in my 60’s am above average weight and have joint pains. This mattress works great. This review is 2 years after purchase date so I have had ample time to assess.

This is described as a firm mattress, so I was hoping for some support. Instead it is very soft and provides no support at all. One sinks in, and can't find a comfortable position. After half an hour, the back starts to hurt already. Overall this is the worst mattress I ever encountered.

The mattress was not firm, it was mushy. I ordered the as1 firm, and it was not firm. Amerisleep has gone down on their quality.My two year old Amerisleep was firm and this new one is totally different and not firm. Avoid this brand.

I’ve suffered from low back and shoulder pain for as long as I can remember. My last two mattresses, a hybrid foam/coil and a brand bearing the name of a color, did nothing to help. I’m 5’11” and 275 pounds with broad shoulders and thick thighs. The AS5 gives great support in the areas I need while letting me feel cradled. The bounce back is relatively quick and I don’t feel trapped in the “sink” of traditional memory foam. I’m a side sleeper, through and through and this mattress just works.

I may never buy another traditional mattress. Bought this to replace an expensive traditional pillow top mattress and expected to be at least somewhat dissatisfied. But surprise, it's a great mattress! Very easy to install, no smelly off-gassing, very comfy and fits the frame perfectly...for half the price I paid for that sagging pillow top. Thanks!
