BOSS Guitar Synthesizer Pedal (SY-1000)

Has great sounds once you hook up a gk-3 pickup to it but I wish they would've made the screen more colored coded between effects and more clearer with the effects chain.

Extremely overrated, no real usable sounds as far as the church environment. In my opinion, it is not as good as the Roland GR 55.

Do yourself a favor, skip playing with the presets to long and create your own dream patches. Start with pure guitar models and FX, then create Synth patches that Keyboard players would envy. Still more, create two or three separate tones playing together in a sonic heaven! Look it you have not done midi guitars before with the Roland GR or VG series and don't have a 13pin pickup or guitar out, this may be to much for you. This is for those that want any guitar tone, type of guitar, synth sounds beyond your imagination, and still can have access to midi guitar production in their DAW(cubase, protools, logic, etc). This is Roland/ Boss putting everything from their experience into one unit and giving it all to you in one box. If this just had the guitar modeling it would be worth it, if it just had the synth sounds it would be worth it. For it to have two modeling engines, a synth engine and be able to process your guitar in still yet another signal to the mix is beyond incredible. The presets are just showing off and are corny with most Roland products...just make your own and I guarantee you'll know it was the best purchase you have ever made. I run a Facebook page with thousands of guitar synth users, everyone that has one is very pleased and become spokespersons for it. This guy with the one star said that because of the looper function. This is not a looper, they added that as bonus. That was so unfair of him to give it a one star because of this over expectation. smh When I saw the one star I quickly looked at the reviews (him being the only one) and had to tell you guys the truth. This is the best invention for the guitar world yet. We've been waiting for this for a long time.

This is a beautiful box. The paint job and construction are top notch. But the guitar is great because it sounds and behaves like a guitar. If you want this kind of cinematic sound it is far better and much less expensive to just get a midi keyboard. I almost have to believe the makers of devices like this know that.

This is not a GK55 /but it has a 13 pin input! It does not have a 1/4” direct output jack like the GK55- Unfortunately as it sounds incredibly it was a HUGE design error to skip the 1/4” direct out AND THe LOOPER. You can route the input through software to a send / return loop that sounds very clean. Boss included some incredible guitar sounds-acoustic and electric set ups. I am very impressed with the sound quality. My main rig is an AX FX III AND THE ONE DISAPPOINTING THING Is that you loose the ability to use the send/ receive loop for Outboard effects like a looper ( for the synth sounds you’re making via this SY-1000). For some reason Boss skipped the looper in their software package CURRENTLY! They could just upgrade the software to include an onboard looper but currently if you want the guitar’s dry signal routed out to another amp or processor you can’t add in any outboard effects like a looper for the Synth. That’s a big disappointment I might be able to overcome using the new logic X looping feature with an another midi foot controller? I hope the great team at Boss finally hears me and solves this problem Peace

Warning to potential purchasers: the SY-1000 comes with no documentation other than a sketch of where the switches and plugs are located. No explanation of how the thing works, how it's to be employed, how to get specific sounds out of it, nothing. I've had to watch a bunch of tattooed (but enthusiastic) gearheads dropping f-bombs on YouTube in order to understand anything about this device. Very frustrating. At this price, you'd have thought that Boss would have included a "welcome to synthesizers" book or, at least, some initial setting suggestions to give you an idea of how to use this thing. Nada. If I hadn't thrown away the shipping container, I'd have returned the SY-1000 a week after i got it. If you're not already very familiar with synthesizers (or have a friend who is), then save yourself the time, effort, and frustration and pass on this one.

Excelente pedal, combina lo mejor de un multiefectos con los sonidos de sintetizador. Es totalmente configurable, lo que le da una versatilidad increíble. Uno de los contras que le veo es que no trae efectos como shimmer o el tera echo que son de mis favoritos, supongo que sacrificaron esos efectos para que el dsp sirva para los sonidos de sintetizador. Una segunda cosa es que está muy limitado en el uso de sonidos sintetizados con el uso del jack normal de guitarra, detalle que en la sy200 no es asi, en la 200 puedes usar todos los sonidos con el jack normal. En fin, creo que es un excelente pedal con sonidos y funciones para dejar volar la imaginación. Si lo tuviera que calificar le daría 7/10 por el uso limitado de los sonidos de sinte y la falta del shimmer y el tera echo. Aún así es un verdadero monstruo, porque puedes usar emulaciones de varios instrumentos y sintes combinados simultáneamente.
