Spain Blu-ray is good!
The only "bootleg" I own, but it's a quality one. Video is HD, much better than any dvd or vhs. Special features I believe are from one of the dvd releases, but they're a good addition.Works in U.S. players, has english audio and subtitles. The artwork, disc, and menus are in spanish as you'd expect, and it comes in the odd red case as shown in the image. Since Cameron won't release the film on 4k or blu (although it sounds like this is changing....again), this definitely does a good job.As for the film, cheesy Arnold 90's action. Very fun, with some good one liners. If you like the film, don't want to wait another 10 years for an official physical release in HD, and are ok with the $25, it's worth it.

Blu-Ray is a huge improvement over the DVD
Like everyone else waiting/hoping for a 4K version some day, I finally decided to order the Blu-Ray from Spain and see if it was the real deal. I can happily tell you that it is. It plays perfectly in my US-region player, and the image and audio quality are excellent. I own the DVD from many years ago and did a comparison between the two versions, and the improvements are obvious. The DVD is watchable, but upscaling to 4K can only do so much with a 480 source. While not 4K, the Blu-Ray is an immense improvement in resolution. Text is far more clear and crisp, and there are no longer "halos" around objects on screen where the upscaler is trying to fill in the missing information.I was wondering if this would look like some cheap bootleg version, but not at all. It's a professionally done transfer with excellent picture and sound. While the cover art is in Spanish, there are multiple languages on the disc including English. One review mentioned that you can't get rid of all of the subtitles, like when a sign is shown and there is a translation, but you actually can. After the movie started, I just used the subtitle button on my remote to toggle through to the "off" setting, and I never saw a single subtitle.I ordered from Valhalla Movies, and they shipped it quickly after I placed my order. It's even available for Prime delivery now through them, at least as I write this review.

Review of Spanish import Blu-ray for True Lies (Mentiras Arriesgadas)
I'm sure many are curious about this version, as True Lies has never been released on Blu-ray before, and now here we have the ONLY Blu-ray release at last. First off, this version is REGION FREE. That means that yes, it'll play on any Blu-ray player no matter where in the world you live. Also, it includes audio in Spanish, English, French, German, and Italian, as well as subtitles in Spanish, English, German, French, Italian, and Portuguese. It also includes the option to turn subtitles off. So if you live in the US and want a standard viewing experience, you only need to set the audio to English and turn subtitles off before starting the movie and you're set...mostly. The movie will still subtitle certain elements, such as when a relevant sign or signal is shown on-screen (e.g. "No Parking"), or when the movie's English subtitles are shown they are also subtitled in Spanish. This is a rare occurrence in this movie though. As far as picture quality, this is worlds better than the existing DVDs! While there have been far better-looking Blu-rays out there, this is still a very good-looking transfer. Many scenes look sharp and vibrant, though many do have more grain than I'd like. You can tell James Cameron didn't touch this version. But as I said, huge improvement from what we had before. Audio quality is very good, though! English and Spanish audio comes in DTS 5.1 with other languages in Dolby Digital. While I'm sure that eventually we'll get Cameron's proper 4K versions of this movie and The Abyss, for now, this edition of True Lies is probably the best we'll get. And to be honest, it's a fine hold-over! I don't regret my purchase at all.

Italian Blu Ray is the Best Available Format
If you are like me then you will know that this is a fun movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom, Arnold, and Jamie Lee Curtis are great in this movie. I already had the DVD and it is barely passable with my projector on my 100" screen. While others have said that the DVD has bars on all four sides of the screen, I don't seem to have that problem with my theater setup. This review is really for the Blu Ray from Italy. To me, the picture quality of the Blu Ray is noticeably better than the DVD but not overwhelmingly. Perhaps that is because of the source material used. The audio is far better than the DVD. The sounds of the bullets and explosions really pop on my 7.1 system. The Blu Ray is region free and commercially pressed (not some burned disc). You do need to use your remote control and select English for the audio and turn off the subtitles. For me, the price of this Blu Ray was worth it to get this movie in a format that was better than the DVD. The Blu Ray definitely looked better in my theater and the sound was far better. I am grateful that someone was able to make this 1080P release available.

Disappointing ‘Special Edition’ in name only.
With a Blu-ray release looking unlikely I decided to purchase this special edition of True Lies to fill a gap in my collection.Firstly this is the German release, so expect the menus and default soundtrack to be in German. Secondly don’t expect much in the way of ‘special’ for this special edition. There is only one disc, and very little in the way of extras, the majority of the extras are text pages or still images and a couple of trailers. That’s really what I’d have expected with a standard edition so I’m not sure what, other than the cardboard sleeve, makes this qualify as a special edition. If, like me, you are a fan of James Cameron’s movies then this is probably worth picking up providing you can find it at a good price. Hopefully there will be a proper Blu-ray release at some point.

TRUE LIES DVD
Possibly the most misogynistic mainstream film I have seen. A bonkers plot that almost defies description, and a climax that literally spirals out of control. Why 5 stars? I just enjoy Arnie, and we have an outrageously sexy turn from Jamie Lee (who gave her the awful hair style??), which sets the screen, and hearts, alight, and an equally sexy show from Tia Carrere. Some humour, loads of action, and Jamie's strip make this a very worthwhile watch. However, at the same time I can understand why this would certainly ruffle a few feathers, with it's perceived humiliation of Jamie???

“Sure, here’s my invitation!” [arnie]
In this 1994 action comedy Harry Tasker [Arnold Schwarzenegger] is a counter-terrorism agent investigating a terrorist group known as the "Crimson Jihad", led by Salim Abu Aziz [Art Malik]. But a side plot has Harry believing his wife [Jamie Lee Curtis -who knows nothing about his other life] is having an affair so what happens when the two plots collide?Full of dry wit and packed with action, this no frills DVD is a rollercoaster from start to finish. The acting is superb and it’s like James Bond meets the Keystone Cops, with a laugh a minute. Despite the age, the quality, special effects, acting and overall production has stood the test of time. Arnie plays the part well, his tango may not be technically perfect, but it is amusing. Curtis won an award for her part and performs a raunchy dance while a young Eliza Dushku appears in her third appearance as their daughter.
