Red HealBug Steerable KneeWalker with Basket

This is wonderful! Well built, has parking brake, so it doesn't move when you are standing and don't want to move, has multiple safety features, like the handle doesn't fold down / collapse until you relase the clamp, and release the safety catch by sliding the clamp sideways (very simple to do), and the seat has 2 holders: a pin with a safety release plus the quick release clamp. The turning steering handle makes it easy to maneuver, too. Basket holds items (it's difficult hold items if you're using crutches because both hands are tied up holding and moving the crutches), so life becomes so much easier when you need to move or carry something (like a drink or papers).This is a great purchase - low price, and very high value, quality, and utility. Highly recommend this product.

I had foot surgery 3 weeks ago and purchased this prior to surgery. It's a real lifesaver, I managed to get around pretty well with it, even right after surgery. The basket was so handy. Just a couple of cons. The brake is only on the right side and so was my surgery foot, which made it a little difficult to get on, as you should always hold the brake getting on or off. There is no parking brake and it really could use one ! The turning radius is terrible, but you can easily pick up the front and move it in the correct direction. The color is 'craftsman' red, pretty sad, I painted mine a nice metallic blue. Good functional product for the money.

The Red Healbug KneeWalker is easily adjustable and well built. I weigh 220 pounds, live on a ranch, and have put it through the test. Up and down outdoor stairs, and through many unpaved areas. I'm not saying it was built for "off road" use but it goes were I need to go. In addition it makes it possible to stay upright when doing the simple everyday things I never never thought about until I couldn't stand on two legs such as cooking, brushing teeth, getting something out of the fridge etc... and all with a parking brake that keeps it from rolling away! The basket is large enough to accommodate a 10 inch tablet, phone, tools, water bottle, glasses case, wallet, medication... and whatever my 2 year old son decides to throw in! This is something I hadn't considered until using crutches and realizing I couldn't carry anything at all. The basket also detaches easily when it's time to get in the car. I put it in the front seat with me while my driver puts the scooter in the back. The handlebar easily folds down with a well (and safely) deigned quick release lever to make it fit in smaller cars. I have few more months to go until I can walk again and will be handing it "up" to my mom when she has her foot surgery.

Very quick to assemble and fairly easy to maneuver. The problem was that from day one it had a little "squeak" when I would ride it. After about 2 weeks, it was so loud that it was driving me insane. When I was in public, people would turn to see where the noise was coming from. I tried to use a little WD40 but it did not help. I ended up having to return it for a refund. I found a nicer one for more money that rides quietly and smoothly.

I bought this because I had a broken ankle. I found it difficult to maneuver. It was very difficult to use. Clunky, did not steer wel it was another accident waiting to happen. . When it arrived it came with no assembly directions. Very frustrating!

It is much better than crutches and the basket is very handy. It is heavy and doesn't turn well at all. The turning radius is worse than the wheelchair. I am consistently having to lift if up to get the wheels in position to turn. Which is scary at first that you may lose your balance. The seat is not comfortable with a cast AT ALL!! It digs into your leg and causes bruising on your knee trying to avoid to much pressure on your cast. I wished I would have spent the extra money for wheelie that had a place for the lip of the cast to rest. The plus is it is sturdy, durable and I was able to go to areas with uneven ground and stayed steady. Plus all the kids are envious and want one too!

Don't let the low number of reviews scare you! And you may be wondering "Why is this scooter slightly cheaper than the others?" This thing is a LIFE SAVER. My foot has been injured for five months and I was essentially in bed 24/7 with no life! But now I can go to the gym, go to the mall, go to the movies! I have the use of my heel so I can at least put it in the back seat of my car. It's kind of heavy but it's worth it. Yes, after a while your leg (on the scooter) will start to hurt but I think it's because your leg is weak. If you are able to go the gym and use weight machines to get any muscle back, that will help. Using the scooter a lot should get those muscles working a bit (the more you use it, the stronger they will get). It forces you to use tiny quad muscles to balance if the scooter and that's why your leg hurts. But I still love this thing!! And I can sit on it if I get tired! And...it's fun! :) I am 30 years old and the envy of every little kid telling his mom as I zoom by, "I want one!" Haha! It doesn't have a parking break which could come in handy for certain situations but it makes you use the most of your good leg. :) I haven't had issues with no parking break. The regular breaks work well. :) And be careful going down slopes... This thing flies! You literally feel like you're flying compared to limping around in pain or laying in bed all day! The day this came in the mail was SUCH a happy life-changing day for me!! If you want your mobility back, get this NOW!
