Essential Book for Healthy Living
I am half way through this book. By applying some of the principles of healthy eating as proposed by Harvey Diamond in this book, I have already seen dramatic results in just under two week. I am losing weight, I have more energy, I am more focused, my digestive system feels great and, on top of it all, I have an enhanced sense of well being.I highly recommend this book for everyone, especially those who have struggled with weight gain, deteriorating health with age or lack of energy. I have struggled with these factors for a number of years. One day, I just decided to do something about it and handle the situation for good. I started looking around and then remembered Fit for Life, the original book, which I had read back in 1993. I was struggling then with low energy and recurring illness. I read that book and applied it. Within months I was at my ideal weight with abundant energy and good health. As time went on, I strayed.This is an updated book to the original. I saw some of the negative reviews, and I admit that Harvey does a lot of talking and preaching before getting to the point. But I actually appreciate that, because I think it is important to get a full understanding of why this method works, and to know about all the misguidedness and misconceptions that are out there. I am really enjoying this book, and I intend to recommend it to my friends and anyone interested in advice.I am a former long distance runner who stopped running 8 years ago, put on 60 pounds of weight and gradually resigned myself to the fate of a middle-age man living on the Standard American Diet (SAD) and sedentary lifestyle. But no more.Five weeks ago I started running again. I was getting along fine and losing about 1 pound each week. But I wanted more. So, 2 weeks ago, I started eating only fruits in the morning until noon. I lost 2 pounds that week. This week I added proper food combining, and dropped another 4 pounds. I know it's not fit-for-life alone, but for sure the combination of eating more living food in a proper way and regular exercise is resulting in maximum benefit.I honestly feel better every day. Before, my body was feeling slow, heavy and lethargic. Now, every day I feel a little better, a little more nimble, a little more energetic, a little lighter, a little stronger, a little more positive, calmer, happier and eager for what the next day or week will bring.

This has been the best Diet I have ever been on and believe me
This has been the best Diet I have ever been on and believe me, I have tried practically every diet out there. Been on weight watchers, Jenny Craig, Atkins, nutrisystem, etc. etc. This is really a healthy way of eating. This is one of food combining and every time I did this diet, I lost a pound a day and never felt hungry. My problem is my husband doesn't eat this healthy way and after a while, I get tired of cooking two different meals for us so I just make what he wants and eat like him which makes me pack on the weight. Will go back to following Fit For Life Not Fat For Life after the Holidays.

Works
I have been following this plan for a few months and I have noticed an increase in my energy during the mornings. I did give up after the first week, I wanted my pancakes with fruit on top, and regretted it within an hour, I felt very lethargic and ended up sleeping for over 12 hours. I thought it might be a fluke and had my pancakes with fruit the next day again and had the same results. I went back to the plan and I feel wonderful. I do believe that it took about a month for my body to get use to the changes.I will revisit this review after a few months.

Happy I’ve rediscovered this book!
It’s so simple, just try it for a week. It works! I used to practice the Fit for Life lifestyle for many years & lost my way until I re-read this. Thankfully I’ve rediscovered my salvation.

Too much waffle and hot air
Full of waffle. If he just got to the point, he could sum up the book in one sentence: eat 50% raw foods and 50% cooked foods. This is basically another spin on the 'don't eat too many processed foods' bandwagon. Don't waste your time or money. I wish I had read the sample first instead of rushing ahead and buying it. Good money down the drain.

Common Sense 101!!!
Best book I have read in 52 years. As a diabetic who recently lost a leg, I have finally gotten serious about my health. I Bought the Kindle version about 10 days ago and read it through. My experience has been fantastic! I eat what I want (including 2-4 pieces of fruit each day (a no no for diabetics), I follow his instructions to the tee and unbelievable - 13 pounds lost in the first 7 days and my blood sugar has gone DOWN 65 points! I am now at the top edge of "border line diabetic" readings. What a crock, they keep moving the number up because medical treatment DOES NOT WORK FOR DIABETES - it gives you good number while your body gets attacked anyway. Any way, I have been traveling for 2 days during this last week, eating in restaurants, eating as much as I want and I am loosing weight and normalizing my blood sugar. Want to loose weight - think of yourself first and read this book! Dr. Russel Smith, D.C. QNPS, Just came back online tonight and bought 2 paperback copies for two people I love.

Great book
This book could quite literally change and maybe even save your life. It is a great and inspiring read and i have adopted its strategies.

This book has changed my life
I started reading this book in attempts to improve my health. My father recently died of a heart attack and I was starting to develop heart problems as well. After reading this book, it has been truly inspirational and after only a week of being on the program, I have noticed a tremendous difference in the way I feel, my weight, and my overall well being. Anyone who reads this book and follows the program will feel like a new person. It has changed my life for the better.

Inspiring as usual
I love Harvey Diamond's books. His energy and passion for his subject leap off every easy to read page. The premise is simple; for better health eat more living food ie raw fruits and vegetables aiming for eventually 50% raw and 50% cooked. If you've read Fit for Life then most of the concepts will not be new to you although his style in this book is toned down a fair bit.Why 4 stars? Personally I'd have liked more case study examples although his own Agent Orange story is certainly more than impressive. Also, the end of the book trails off a little into an irradiated food issue which only applies to the USA and a section about coral supplements which I found a little confusing. Other than that a good inspiring read.

Very Practical Advice
Wonderfully written. Love the quotes. Recipes for frozen fruit smoothies would have been nice., love the idea of fruit first thing in the morning. Will start tomorrow...

Basic brilliant
If ever there was an easier way to feel the way your meant to feel.Just what I was looking for when I decided it was time to get back to basic healthy eating.Anyone can do this and enjoy the feeling of wellbeing.Thankyou.
