good for scabs
I usually prefer a red mud for body masks. therefore i have been in the habit of using any of my more common clays whenever i cut myself. they all work or help. For minor cuts or booboos, i usually add some dry powder as it starts to stop bleeding. a little clay will help the blood clot and make the scab more durable and protective. but recently i spoke to a long time mentor of mine, and she said that bentonite was best for scabs. i chose wyoclay bentonite because it was (proprietary?) food grade (well that's what they say). better safe than sorry?. i figure the cleaner it is, the better chance there will be no problem with the booboo. i have never had a problem with any of my clays, yet i think this is the best choice i can make today. so i refilled all my small containers; in the kitchen, bathroom and travel bags. it really is an essential in all my first aid and travel kits. this bentonite seems kinda standard or better. a little off-white, very dry and fine. silky smooth - no clumps.i find pure bentonite a poor choice for body mud packs. its hard to get a thick layer, and the it cracks in a painful way. but i sometimes mix it in with other clays for interesting mud packs. the mud is also good for bug bites, itches, rashes and other skin problemsi got two sizes, and gave the half pound size as a gift. the smaller size is more convenient with a screw top. i don't like the tub that this 2-pounder comes in. hard to open (pound with a mallet) and doesn't reseal as well either. no big deal. i already divided half of it and have a smaller better container.as good as it gets. low price. american Wyoming usa (well that's what they say). recommended.

Excellent, noticeable, immediate results at a great price.
Excellent, noticeable, immediate results. I have used internally and externally. I am including a page link with loads of information and usage tips; the primary thing I've learned I've seen others struggling with on here is how to mix. This site states active mixing will only create clumps, whether using internally or externally. The preparation requires minimal work, just foresight to have it ready in advance. An excerpt:"Preparing powdered bentonite for external use is not difficult, but may require some patience. On average, the amount of water required to properly hydrate bentonite will be from four to five times the amount of clay, by volume. For every one cup of bentonite, at least four cups of water will be required to fully hydrate the clay to produce a magma that can be considered colloidal. While there is not one single method to prepare clay, our experience suggests the following method:1. Add the powdered clay to the container, layering it not more than three inches thick. If one is making more clay, add about 4 times the water to the container at this point, then add another "layer" of powdered clay, again, not more than three inches deep. This process can be repeated.2. If the layering method is not used, then once the powdered clay is in the container, the water is then added.3. It takes time for the clay to hydrate. If one finds that the powdered clay is not adsorbing water, then one may gently create small holes from the top to the bottom of the container, which will allow the water to penetrate to the bottom of the container.4. Mixing the clay is not recommended. If neccessary, one can "turn" the clay by taking the clay that is on the bottom of the container and moving it to the top.5. Complete hydration can take from 48 hours to five days, depending on the clay and the amount of clay being made. The end product should be a gel substance without clumping. The more one interferes in the process, the greater the chance of clumping. When placed in a container, one should be able to feel a "bounce" to the clay, by holding the container in one hand and tapping it with the other. If the clay is not hydrated enough, it is easy to add small amounts of water. We recommend creating medium sized holes ( if a large container is used to make the clay ) that penetrate to the bottom of the container, and slowly adding water so that the water fills from the bottom of the container up. No mixing is required. Simply allow the clay to set and expand.Apply caution when handling processed powdered clay. One should avoid breathing in the fine powder."[...]

Great for exfoliating but I found myself unable to ingest ...
Great for exfoliating but I found myself unable to ingest it orally (even when I left it in an 8 Oz bottle of spring water to settle overnight). It's just too thick & chalky for me even though I've tried mixing it into several other foods & drinks. It's just too hard to get down, much less stomach so I guess I'll never experience the internal benefits of it, but as a clay mask it works wonders & I see results in as little as 24 hours after application. In my personal experience, it's worked best when mixed with Apple cider vinegar with the mother. One tbsp wyoclay, 2-3 tbsp water & 3 drops of a very works wonders for clearing acne, blackheads, & many other skin imperfections. Just be sure to go light on the acv as too much mixed into your paste will burn your eyes once applied to your face making it unbearable to leave on for more than a few minutes.... if that, rendering it useless.

Great Mask for Acne
I purchased this to make an Acne Fighting Facial Mask. Works GREAT! The product is very finely ground, no chunks or yucky stuff. Basically the mask is Apple Cider Vinegar (the yellow kind - don't use white) and Bentonite Clay mixed into a soft paste. The acid in the vinegar kills the germs and the clay pulls out all kinds of toxic impurities in your skin. My sons acne started clearing up in just a few days.Try it on a test spot for a short time. The Vinegar WILL make your skin tingle. Only leave it on a few minutes until you see how sensitive you are. 5 min MAX. You will look like you have been in the sun - it fades quickly. This is merely a suggestion and an example of how my family uses this product.
