Electrifying
Freeplay puts the electrical grid in your hands both literally and figuratively. This is a big idea and power source in a small – just 7h x 5w x 2d – lightweight package. The panel captures the rays – even on cloudy days (albeit much slower) – and stores that electricity in the hub’s li-ion battery that can then be used to power the lights and act as a charging station for other devices. The graphic-friendly controller protects against undercharging (see pic with flashing lights indicating charge level) and over charging (a bigger problem and a concern with other solar models). Setup is super simple and activation is as easy as pushing an “On” button. The panel and the controller are separate pieces letting you carry your power independent of its hookup. In other words, you aren’t tethered to your grid. You are truly a mobile energy port once the internal battery is fully charged. The lights have more than 10-feet of cord – a huge advantage in outdoor spaces like camping, picnicking or parties. The hub includes a multipiece cable (see pic) with attachments for charging a variety of phones and devices. The Freeplay also allows you to conventionally charge the unit using the included outlet for either wall or car ports.I’m already seeing energy devices - like decorative porch lights - on the market with USB ports versus electrical ports and plugs. The Freeplay hub is already there to power up that market. The Solar Energy Hub is an electrifying 5-star purchase.

A battery without a charge
The battery no longer holds a charge and I cannot find the manual online. If I could get some help from the manufacturer I’d consider changing my review.
