Black Harness Boot

I wear women's size 8.5 to 9. I tried the Durango Women's brown harness boots, and they did not fit right in a size 8.5, as the heel was too wide and toe box tighter and they never fit right. So I sized down to an 8 in the women's and just took a rubber mallet to pound out the sides of the boots where they were too tight. I had seen a video where it works to use a rubber mallet and pound the leather to loosen and soften it up on too tight boots. It worked but took a LOT OF WORK, and use of stretch spray. After a while I finally donated them as I did not ever really like the shorter 10" height.A few years later when again lookin for the impossible to find brown harness boots (you can't find brown in women's except for Frye's which do not fit the human foot); I thought to try the Durango men's version of the brown harness boot: as they are 11" tall (instead of the women's 10"), also, a men's boot would be wider.So I tried the men's size 7 and it worked great. I really like these boots! I used a cushioned insole with them and it fits great, very comfortable, and no pinching of the toes on the sides! The leather is thick and the soles are thick non-slip rubber. These can work if you are a woman size 8.5 to 9, the men's size 7 can fit, you can add an insert to help with the fit (3/4 inserts can help for loose heels). They are super comfortable this way. I like the tighter shaft as my calves are skinnier, and they fit and look great.The only problem is that the ones sold on amazon can have defects: I bought and returned 2 pairs. the first one 1. the heels were separating from the sole on the inner side of the heels facing the toes on both boots; 2. there were glue spotches on the rubber sole of the left boot, 3. the left heel had a nail hole on the side of the heel. The 2nd pair had the defect of: 1 boot was in perfect condition and shape and 1 boot- the left boot had defective leather that had a rough weak unraveling like texture on the inside of the boot that you could see the difference, and so on the outside of the boot it ws wrinkled and the leather buckled inwards at both heels b/c the defectvie leather was weak. So it looked like a mismatched pair. I finally found a good pair of brown ones that fit and look great.Next try: Tried the Black size 7. These are different fitting boots: The leather is thinner and these are more lightweight - the black boots felt more lightweight than my brown ones comparing them. 2. The heels are wider, so wide that I had to return as the boots slipped up and down when walking and flopped too much. No amount of inserts or combinations of inserts worked, they just made the heel region too wide, and the rest of the boot fit like normal. I might try a different pair, but I suspect they cheapend them (cheapflation perhaps) and the newer ones are thinner leather and just fit differently. I hope not. Wish I could find a pair of black size 7 just like the brown ones that finally worked.

I've always wanted a pair of Harness Boots. For a long time. I finally decided to get a pair. I compared Dingo and these. It was a close choice. But I looked at how many reviews. Each one have. The Durango was in tenth place. With more reviews. Than the Dingo Harness Boots. When I first opened the box. The boots looked great. I normally wear a 10 extra wide. Some reviews stated to go down a half or full size. No. I went with my normal 10 EX. The fit perfectly. The leather used was nice and thick. It has a padded insole. The stitching was great. The square toe box was just right. Great workmanship. Packaged well. I got them in one day. Yes they're made in China. But most shoes and boots are made there. The dark brown finish. Looked distressed. The finish wasn't oily. They fit perfectly. For my feet. When buying boots. There's 3 things you have to make sure of. First you have to know your foot size. Then the width. The last thing. Is the widest point on the sole. Your ball of your foot. Should be located at the widest pat of the sole. You have to break them in. They'll be tight on your foot. But when woren. A few times. The leather will stretch. At first. Don't apply any water resistant coating. Or polish. You can tell when your boots need cleaniing. Use a good saddle soap. Every so often. This cleans the leather.plus it makes the leather more pliable. If you do this. The boots should last a long time. You can get them resoled. Plus the heel. After spending $150.00. These boots aren't just thrown away. With proper care. They'll haveca long service time for you. I highly recommend the Durango Boots. Compare them with others. These should be one of your top choices for boots.

I have only worn this boot for a couple of days. But so far it has exceeded my wildest expectations for comfort, quality, fit, and -- best of all -- for it's rugged, masculine look!!! I especially love the low-gloss,oil-tanned leather that makes it look like a rugged work boot or motorcycle boot -- but still nice looking enough to get by on slightly dressier (but still informal) occasions. The dull finish of the oil-tanned leather looks like it will probably be somewhat water-resistant and weather-resistant -- although I haven't yet had a chance to test it in wet weather. I was astonished at how easily the boot slips on and off without a bootjack, even though it (mercifully) doesn't have a zipper. And the extra cushioning in the sole makes it unusually comfortable when walking. When you first remove it from the shipping box, it just looks like real quality workmanship. And it has that wonderful leather smell that seems to telegraph really good leather.

The following is my seventeen year old son's review of this product:Let me start by saying this, it was hard to get these right. Amazon's size chart is terribly inaccurate, it said I needed an 11.5D if I wanted these to fit properly, which was completely off. I ordered the 11.5D and had what felt like about an inch of unnecessary extra clearance between the end of my big toe and the end of the inside of the boot, that's like an extra toe length, and about a half inch of clearance between my heel and the back end of the inside of the boot. So Amazon's size chart is WAY off. Take my advice, and the advice of other reviewers here, and order a half size down from your regular size, and save yourself the annoyance of sending them back several times. I'm an 11D ordinarily, and I wear a size 10.5D size for these boots. A gel insert wouldn't hurt either, leather has the tendency to stretch JUST a tiny but, and a gel insert takes off the edge of the recoil involved in making steps on pavement. The sole of the boot is composed of three layers. A hard rubber layer, closest to the leather, a wood or fake wood layer which is unforgiving on concrete, and a third layer of hard rubber, so the two layers of hard rubber effectively sandwich the wooden layer to make up the sole. When I say hard rubber, I mean real hard rubber, this is not the kind of rubber you find on sneakers; this rubber is tough, heavy duty, mean, inflexible, built for rough terrain rubber, that's why I recommend the gel insert.Now to the good stuff!!!The boots look FANTASTIC!!! Like the title says, nothing looks better. I love the way these things look and they are appropriate for everything except running in and long walks on pavement, which will leave you with some foot pain after a while. If you've never owned leather footwear before, get a good soft rag and some brown shoe polish, because its easy to scuff these.They make me feel tall due to the 1.5-2 inch heal.Once you've figured out the size you need and stuck an insert in there, they are way comfortable, more comfortable than my dress shoes. Just get some liner socks (silk socks that are skin tight and prevent blisters due to friction) to put on under your ordinary socks. Black socks work the best because the brown coloring on the inside will show up on white socks for some reason. Also, if you are prone to sweaty feet, buy some foot powder to sprinkle on in your socks, inside the boot, and in between your toes just before you put the boots on, it cuts odor which can build up and leave you and your boots smelling NASTY when you take 'em off.I've gotten nothing but compliments from girls.That's about it. You might want to consider this checklist if you buy these or are thinking about it:-foot powder: to cut odor buildup if you are prone to have sweaty feet-gel insert: for comfort-rag: to buff out scuffs and scratches-brown shoe/boot polish: to take care of deep scratches-liner socks: reduces risk of blistering-Size: order a half size down from your regular shoe size, trust me on this.Overall my son seems to love these boots!

Ordered two other highly rated harness boots in black from Amazon, and ended up returning both. Main issue with both pairs was that opening at the calve was too large. Although both boots fit my feet fine (13D), there was no real grip on the calves, and I have fairly large legs after 35 years of construction work.Finally decided to throw out a little extra money for these Durango‘s and couldn’t be happier! They feel perfect and don’t want to slip off my feet. Also, don’t bunch up under the bottom of my Levi’s 501 and 505 jeans the way the other two did. Love the fact that these don’t have a lugged sole, and have more of a western appearance, yet still have a great grippy tread for puttering on the Harley scooter.Additionally, the leather on these Durango‘s had the best oiled finish with a smooth satin appearance. The other ones were dull and a bit gritty. These boots look bad ass and classy at the same time. Work well for both a cowboy and biker. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase. – Durango is my brand for all future harness boots. I am going to be purchasing the distressed brown ones soon.

I'm glad that I read the reviews of these boots before I ordered them. A lot of people were saying that the sizes run large, and to order a 1/2 size smaller than you normally wear. This made me nervous enough to hold off on ordering for several months. I was able to find the same boots at a local store, tried them on, and found the correct size for me. I normally wear a size 10 1/2 to 11, and the 10 EE fit me the best. I felt bad for not purchasing them from the local store, but they were $50 cheaper on Amazon and they offered free shipping, so I ordered them. When they arrived, they still felt a bit too big, but I put in some inserts, and now they fit perfectly. They are not the highest quality boots, and I do not expect them to last for more than a couple of years, but they look great and are very comfortable. I would recommend trying them before you buy them if you can find them at a local store.

Wow! Thats pretty much how I feel about these boots. The look, the comfort, the fit.. Wow. I am happy!The fit is maybe just a little big in the toe area, but I am more than satisfied. I wear a 10.5 in New Balance and Asics sneakers. I wear a 10.5 in my Doc Marten and Rocky boots (Ironclads). So I obviously opted for the 10.5 in the Durangos. Good choice. I usually wear comfortable wool socks, nothing too bulky. The fit is narrow in these boots, so they should break in brilliantly. If you have a wider foot, you NEED to order the wide boots.I walk my dog quite a bit for a few miles at a time and that is the best way for me to break in the boots and shoes I buy. There really is no break in period needed with these. They are soft and comfortable right out of the box. I did 6 miles with the dog the day I received them and enjoyed nothing but comfort the entire time. I am looking forward to trying them out on my motorcycle this spring. I would recommend these to everyone!

The boots are great quality and look fantastic but were delivered with missing insoles. Couldn't figure out how to reach out to the seller other than by returning the product and I didn't want to return the product I just wanted the insoles that were missing
