Can you drink from the mug without removing the infuser?

Yes you can! Do you see a tiny handle on top at the right side of the picture? This handle pulls down the infuser into the water, when the time is up just lift up the infuser using the handle and drink your tea. That's why it's so wonderful! I've never found a tea mug on-the-go so smart for tea lovers.

How easy for it to empty and clean out the infuser after each cup?

This was a gift for my Grandson. He had one before and he loved it. He lost it just before Christmas so I purchased two for him. (one at work and one for home.) He was very happy to get a replacement. He says it's very easy to clean. He washes the infuser with soapy water and then just rinses and he is done.

Is the infuser good for fine loose teas? I have this vanilla black tea that has slipped through strainers if the holes aren't small enough

The infuser on this mug is made of a mesh material. It steeps fine loose teas but super fine powdered tea might not be compatible. I steep all kinds of tea in mine and have never has an issue with any of it being too fine. I love my infuser mug and use it every day!
