Quick and easy
UPDATE: After posting my original review I discovered that it quit working because I had gotten a bit of wax on one of the prongs. I rubbed the wax off and it works great again! Have been using it for a few months now with no problems, and haven’t had to clean it again. Other reviewers mentioned noise; nobody in my household and none of the pets complain about any noise,Original review:This is a very pretty, sturdy-looking lighter. But it stopped working after about 3 days of use. I lit approximately 15 candles total, and then it quit. I thought maybe it needed charged again already, but after leaving it plugged in overnight it still didn't work. Cannot recommend this purchase.

Pretty nifty device! Works great so far!
Someone in our household had been wanting to light some candles each morning and mentioned buying a lighter or some matches. I wanted to see if we could find something that would last longer. I had no idea there were so many electric lighters available! We opted for the Zippo unit rather than one of the many other oddly named brands, despite the price being a bit higher than the others. The construction of this thing seems really nice. It's mostly metal, feels solid, and so far has operated smoothly. We got ours just over a month ago. I have messed with it a few times just because it's so neat. It's been used to light candles each morning during that time. The battery finally needed to be charged just a couple days ago. So it lasted about a month with light daily usage. Not bad!

Easy to use
I like it because I can just recharge it and not refill it

How to make it start working again
I purchased this 10 months ago for $20. It has worked well and keeps a charge. I burn candles almost every day. I noticed lately that it hasn't been igniting reliably, despite having a full charge. I believe the issue is that one of the contacts is covered in soot or wax. I fixed this by using a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol and rubbing the contact vigorously until I could see the metal again. I had to jam the qtip head in there - simply using a paper towel did not work. Of course, I took all measures to ensure that the lighter would not ignite given the flammable nature of alcohol. After doing this, the lighter worked again. If it stops working I will try this method once more.

Rechargeable candle lighter
My wife, the candle user, is always asking me to refill our butane lighters. Which can be a pain to do. Fortunately, the last several ones that she purchased were not refillable, which made us do some shopping around. She stumbled crossed these electric lighters on a Zippo ad. She did her usual and thorough search and discovery and decided that these were the best option as far as safety and ease of use. We purchased 2 of them, and after a short in-house trail period gave one to our son. She loves the one that we kept, and our son loves his. They are excellent idea, cost effective, easy to use and recharge without using flammable liquids in pressurized canisters, which I greatly appreciate. Great item and a great gift to friends and family that light candles, gas stoves and barbeques. bwc

Only worked for 6 months.
Worked OK for 6 months. Now battery will not hold a charge. Thought Zippo was better quality than this. Throwing it in the trash and going back to the old reliable butane lighter.

Very cool alternative
Definitely prefer this over matches and those cheap click lighters that never work. Stylish and modern. Has a good solid feel and quality build. Makes a cool zappy noise too

OK for candles, not much else
It will light a candle. It will light paper or cardboard too, pretty effectively. But it's a royal pain to use. The button & lockout trigger are clumsy and only quasi-intuitive, and there's no way to bypass the safeties because they're electronic.Plus, it doesn't put out nearly as much heat as even a standard lighter, much less a torch lighter. I thought I'd be clever and use these for lighting fireworks this year, but that was an abject failure. This thing won't set off a sparkler, and the clumsy controls make it all but useless even for easy-to-light fuses.I like the tech. A fuel-free rechargeable lighter is a great idea, and this one could be a great product if it weren't for the kludgy controls.
