Not fully explained
I have been trying to learn BizTalk and this book does not fully explain some components of BizTalk. It just gives a high level overview and without any examples on how to do certain things. But overall it's a good book to get started but not if you need some in depth knowledge.

Great book to get Hand on the Biztalk server
overall Book is good , i can confidently say even though i am only half way through this book. The thing i liked in this book is detail explanation where a mid level developer can easily get on to the topics and understand the subject easily. I would recommend this book for Mid level C# developers.

Excellent for newcomers, but invaluable info for experienced BizTalk developers too
If you're a .NET developer who wants to learn BizTalk Server, then "Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010 Unleashed" is a great resource for you. For those already experienced in BizTalk a significant amount will be review, but there are some sections, such as the comprehensive chapters on business rules and the BRE, that still make this a very valuable book. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the benefits of BizTalk Server and covers all of the concepts that you need to know in a readable format. There is some overlap with the Microsoft product documentation (which has drastically improved since BizTalk 2004), but the authors frequently discuss best practices and offer tips, and some chapters go far beyond the documentation. For example, the chapter on schemas emphasizes the importance of getting schemas correct up front, defining namespaces, creating internal schemas and even manual editing of flat file schemas. As I mentioned earlier, there is an extensive and detailed discussion of business rules and the business rules engine (BRE), probably more than in any other BizTalk book available.Custom pipeline components can be very tricky to implement in a high-performance fashion (primarily due to streaming), but there isn't much detail in this area. That's an area that virtually every BizTalk reference neglects. I was surprised to find little or no mention of EDI and TPM, which are both significant and valuable features in BizTalk. Likewise, there was only light coverage of the ESB Toolkit and BAM. A chapter on the Admin Console doesn't provide any value to this book.Overall, the core and most-used concepts of BizTalk Server as an engine (schemas, maps, orchestrations, rules, adapters and pipelines) are covered very well, with the features that build upon that foundation receiving less attention (BAM, EDI, TPM, ESB Toolkit). This book is of most value to newcomers to BizTalk, but experienced developers will definitely appreciate the great detail on the BRE.

Misses the Basics
Shouldn't a book like this at least tell you how to install the components, configure them and use them properly?

Long on facts, short on explanation.
This book suffers from a problem endemic to technical books. All too often, it seems like there's a rush to get titles to market when a new version of a product hits the shrink wrap, so the basics are throw in and the book is then padded out with pages of details. (Do we really need a list of all the possible values we can set in a configuration drop-down?)This book gave me enough information to start fumbling around with BizTalk, but it was all very shallow. I was unable to assemble the bits of knowledge the book offered into a mature solution. Even getting a basic solution running required looking for tutorials on the Microsoft site.I'd strongly recommend the book Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010 Patterns instead.

Good to have
Good to have this book for the detailed description on the technology. I bought this book for preparing for MS certification. Some of the concepts which actual 70-595 book couldnt clarify were given in details.

Walked into a job and was handed all EDI. Love the Unleashed series. When I can't figure something out, I look it up in here.
