This is the best pump I ever got
This is the best pump I ever got. It does the job. Cord is long enough so I find a comfortable place for pumping not just the one that close to outlets. the best part was that I accidently dropped the pump and it still works.

unfortunately very disappointing
i used this pump while my newborn was hospitalized and i was extremely disappointed. the vacuum/cycles are really low and slow and left me feeling always full ( i would put it at the highest setting and stay on the pump for 20-30 mins both of which should be enough). i actually think it decreased my supply since it never fully emptied me. i was surprised to find that my Medela PISA was much better (maybe I was already used to my pump - but I was more than looking forward to trying a hospital pump and was still disappointed). I was happy to finally get back home and empty my breasts. i gave it 2 stars because it did work to provide some milk for my baby for the stay.

not worth the extra money
I purchased an Ameda Purely Yours Ultra when my daughter was born - after a few months of pumping every day, it started to take FOREVER to pump the same amount of milk that I used to get in earlier weeks. I tried multiple different settings and pumping programs to try and make letdown occur faster but had no luck. Since I was going back to work soon, I decided to rent this hospital-grade Ameda Elite pump in hopes that it would lead to faster letdown and cut down on pumping time. After one month of renting the Elite, I'm disappointed. I'm getting the same amount of milk (in the same amount of time) that I do with my Purely Yours Ultra. The only differences are (a) the Elite is quieter than the Purely Yours Ultra (not an issue for me since I'll be pumping in a separate room, not in my office) and (b) the Elite is slightly more comfortable with a more gentle push/pull action. I don't find the Purely Yours Ultra all that uncomfortable, so for me, it wouldn't be worth the extra $600 to buy the Elite (or worth the extra $75 per month to rent it). For me, I really need a pump that stimulates letdown faster - I can't be spending 40 minutes to get 4 ounces of milk at work. Not interested in Medela (I want a closed system) so I recently ordered the Spectra S2 as my backup pump (since its virtually guaranteed that I will leave my pump at work accidentally on occasion and can't be without a pump for even a day). I'll update my review once I've had a chance to try it out.

Same unit from hospital
This is the same unit you would get/rent at the hospital. It is quite strong and works well.I would have given it 5 stars if it were not for the lousy quality assurance this unit had in packing and shipping. I won't explain my whole situation, but to simplify I bought this and didn't get around to using it till about 1 year later. Shame on me for not opening the box and trying it right away... live and learn. The problem was when I open the unit for the first time it had a lot of noise like loose parts floating around the inside. When I opened I found most of the screws for the circuit board not attached. Those could not have shaken loose in shipping; it wasn't assembled properly before shipping.Putting those gripes aside, once I fixed it, it worked very well for my wife for many months.

Just got mine
Ok, I just got mine yesterday. I bought it from the official website. It actually came with the small free gift and the shipping was free.Must say right away-it is not a small item. It came with in this bright green plastic case-very much attention grabbing. This is why I bought a matching bag to carry this pump in.Obviously, I haven't used the pump yet. I'm due next month. But I'm in a medical field and researched pumps heavily before making my desicion. Here is my thinking:-I was looking for a powerful pump because I won't have that much time at work for breaks, so I want to get the most of it.-I was looking for a durable pump that is not going to lose suction in a couple of months. Initially I had my mind set on Ameda Purely Yours Ultra. Still, I think it's a great pump. But I just need this security and guarantee that MY pump lasts for a long time since I'm planning to have more children. This pump comes with 3 , not 1 year warranty, which makes me feel better. So far, the pump looks good.I'll be writing a more detailed review a bit later after I give it a good try.So far, I give it five stars. It's quite pricy, so I'm expecting it to perform up to its level.Btw, what helped me to make up my mind, is the review from two friends who delivered two months ago. One is using Purely Yours and pumps at work. When we talk on the phone during her pumping sessions, the pump is pretty loud. But not a big deal I guess IF it performs well.My other friend uses Purely Yours at home, but she used Elite in the hospital for a week. She says Elite was amazing in compare to Purely Yours.Anyway, will be writing an update later!Good luck to everyone!Sept. 27, 2012Ok, here is an update.I love love love my pump!!!!It's my life saver!I started using it 3 days postpartum and now at five weeks I have more than 400 oz go milk stored.I did start work five days ago. The pump does make some noise but it's not bad for anyone to notice even if u want to make phone calls while pumping. So, in compare to Purely Yours it's a plus.I had the chance to compare it to Medela symphony- I guess that's what they use at the hospital. I may be wrong on the name, but it's the one they use at the hospital. It was not bad. Very quiet. But I only used it once at the hospital and was very sore at that time, so it seems like it almost killed me. Too strong even at the lowest setting. My pump came in the green factory case. I do not recommend carrying it to work in that case. Here at amazon they sell a bad with the accompanying kit worth of $80. Totally worth it. I have to yet write my review about it. Anyway, the pump fits nicely. Small advice: do not wrap the cord around the nest it belongs to, but instead, fold it on top of the pump and zip it up. That way you never have to take the pump out of the bag to use it. And you will need to put something in between the other side of the bag just not to compress the tubing. The bag comes with ice packs and bottles. Love it.Ok, in compare to Purely Yours, the point is not only the noise. Elite is just simply more powerful! And it works much more smooth. I had a friend visiting me ( also nursing mom). And she tried my pump with her own tubing. Hands down mine was more powerful! And I used her Purely Yours Ultra. Hated it! I works in a jerky fashion and I was constantly in pain! But the most important - I got almost no milk out with that pump. Very frustrating! Then I used my Elite I got almost 5 oz from each side. Yes, it's that powerful!Few more advises. If u plan on having more kids- this is the best pump to have.I got two more sets of flanges and valves so now I have 3 sets total. Saves me tons of time at work since you don't have to constantly wash and dry the pump parts and don't have to use those stinky sticky cleaning wipes.Buy spare tubing parts in advance- you know you'll need it when u are least expecting it. Better be prepared.Good luck to all!
