Sticks and stones - yet comfy!
Ok, a stick chair??? I'm a Senior, just wait - you'll get old too!, that suffers from back issues caused by "dumb things done" in youth. ;) Needless to say, I don't need a cane to walk or balance, just a place to rest without looking for a bench, tree stump. ledge, stair steps, etc.. to take the stress off my lower back after walking or standing for awhile. It works!!! Great for travel since it folds to under 15 inches in length, fits my carry on. I'm 250lbs and 6'2" tall and it extends nicely IF you want use it as a cane or walking stick - about 37" total length with no problem. I adjust it shorter, using the push indents in the seat column when I want to sit then re-extend to use as a walking stick. The heft and feel is quality but the base shaft can be bent if your swaying back and forth like your sitting on a swing. It is meant to provide a sitting spot not a pivot to move around while leaning. How do I know? Most bad reviews complain that it bent. I've used it numerous times and it might "bow" a little if I forgot to shorten it or leaned way too much but it has not bent. All in all - very happy! FYI, [...] does not seem to sell the padded seat optional accessory or actual replacement tips thru amazon.com so I purchased directly thru them. My result... Excellent! Really nice to know the "actual company" Amazon sells for exists and they are proud of their product. BTW, if your a "Big Bang" fan. Did you know,Big Bang - Series 09 Episode 23 - The cinema line, the stick chair Raj used while waiting in line for the movie was this one??? Even Stick Chair never knew it was used until way after the episode aired and I thought it was a prop that really should be made.As Raj said, "Boy, all this standing’s making me tired. Good thing I brought my collapsible stick chair."Howard: "Not the stick chair. You look like an idiot on that thing."Raj replied, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but chairs on sticks are comfy.".Yup and I agree!

I had to sit down and the only place in reach was good ole Terra Firma
Over a year ago a mishap left me stranded in the middle of my yard for half an hour. I had over-extended myself after a recent illness and--trying to get the mail of all things--my legs just decided to stop working. I had to sit down and the only place in reach was good ole Terra Firma. I tried to get up several times and realized I couldn't. I tried with my existing cane but I was too weak at the time. I was looking at a 100 ft crawl back to my stairs on all fours since I'd left my cell phone in the house too. It was a personal nightmare and a personal low point when a family member returned to find me "stuck".I began looking into a cane that I could turn into a seat after that. After reviewing several models and websites I tried this stickchair for its price and form factor. The bicycle seat styles are too flimsy and the ones that turn into an actual chair sit too low and are too heavy for daily use.On delivery, I noticed that the "chair" portion of my new cane is solid metal--not tubes like the cane portion. This does add some weight compared to other collapsibles I own, but not enough to hinder me. Of equal importance to me, I have tested its ability to provide a stable platform to help me up from a fully seated position should I have another mishap. Should I turn it upside down, the chair provides a stable platform that I can climb up. Then flip it back right-side up and walk home.A sore point about the chair--no pun intended--was in how unstable it felt when I tried to sit in on it in the proscribed way. If you fold it open and put the "pads" under each buttock it tends to feel unwieldy and unstable. And its downright hard to get off of if you have weak wobbly legs like I do. Instead, I've adopted a straddled position and try to keep my weight aimed on the hinge. This lets me reach down between my legs to grab the--now--front of the chair and use it as a stabilizer when getting back up. I've also found it more comfortable for longer periods and provides better rest to my legs...probably because I'm not fighting the chair for balance.I am 6' 0" and my weight fluctuates between 155-170 lbs. I've been using this stickchair for several months and am thus far satisfied that, as long as I treat it gently, it will not fail me. I do not "plomp" down on it, wiggle around on it, nor otherwise try to abuse it.Pros: Its a chair that I can carry with me anywhere. Solid constructionCons: Cold, hard handle/seat that is cold to the touch when walking and sore if sat on for long periods; poor rubber foot needed replacement after only a few weeks. There is a padded seat for this chair on another website and you must have a paypal account to buy from them.

Compact, useful and study
Still trying it out but bought it for a tour in which space is tight. This folds down to very small/short size. Study and strong, and allows one to sit as well as using as a walking stick. I'd seen a friend use one and and he recommended it for my purposes.

Great for Standing in Line and Easy to Fold Down to Fit in a Backpack
This arrived in decent time and works as well as I thought it would. I have another brand of seat sticks, but they are straight sticks and don't fold down for storage. I needed one my wife could use for a coming convention, in which she'll be waiting in lines several times to get into presentations. The stick on this one pulls apart easily for folding down to about 14 inches long. I kept searching other reviews and write-ups about the height of the seat. The best I saw was something about it depends on the angle at which a person uses it. I just wonder how high that is. When I got the unit, I folded down the handle to create the seat, held the unit vertically, and measured it from the floor. The lowest setting puts the seat at about 29.5 inches and the highest setting puts the seat at about 33.5 inches. As mentioned in their only answer to this question, but without any details about how high is high, if you do angle the stick, which is part of the idea behind its design, the seat height will be lower, accordingly. Just be careful how far you angle the stick and be mindful of the surface. The farther out you go or the slicker the surface, the more likely your tail bone will be to having an unwelcome meeting with that surface.UPDATE: My wife took this to Comic Con to wait in line - Thursday Evening, all went well. All day Friday, all went well. Saturday, she felt the pole giving way and stood up immediately. The pictures show the bend. She is not 300 pounds, yet the pole bent. I would guess her leaning weight to be no more than 150 pounds of pressure on the seat, if that. Now, we have a Stick Chair that is unreliable for its designed use. I have changed this to a single star. I no longer trust this model.
