African Pearls: Echo Musical

I love music from Senegal, and Sylla is usually a reliable producer. The collection is not terrible, it is just unexciting and there is really only one outstanding track: "Teranga" by Chuza, which is reminiscent of "Jalo" by Etoile de Dakar; a very soulful and emotionally satisfying piece, and that is the track that motivated me to purchase the cd. Oh, well...I just hit the "replay" button a few times on "Teranga" and forget about the rest.

.....Before they vanish. Great twofer value of primo cuts from the 70's. The Senegal and Mali ones are the best.If you like Orchestre Baobab, this comp. has a handful of worthy lesser names working the same jangly, jazzy, afro-cubin vibe.

Je n'ai pas retrouvé dans ce cd la musique de mon enfance au Sénégal. Je m'attendais à des chants traditionnels, ici ils sont inspirés de musiques cubaines donc loin de ce que j'ai vécu
