... you wouldn't expect the last one to be the best. 2010's absolute dissent was great
Being in their 50s and putting out 3 albums in five years you wouldn't expect the last one to be the best. 2010's absolute dissent was great, MMXII was a bit of a dip down and then ****smack!!**** Pylon throws you back into your seat! As a fan of all their various styles Pylon is an Epic masterpiece. The production quality is excellent and Jaz does a bit more singing than screaming. How they are able to keep putting out great material is amazing. Make sure your copy has Panopticon on it.

an esoteric look at thee minds of the sociopaths that currently rule this planet
not for the weak of mind. their most dangerous recording, may also be their very best. I believe many gatherers will feel the same. Killing Joke truly is a force to be reckoned with. there really are very few that can ever pass through these kind of ordeals and survive. a true testament to the powerful force known as Killing Joke. disassembling the fabric of control one thread at a time. not to be ignored, thee only thing you have to lose is...thank you very much gentlemen. In Excelsis! truly.

A compliation album that isn't a compliation album
Killing Joke firmly established itself in its "new" groove with their 2003 album, and their sound hasn't evolved much since then... why mess with a good thing, right?Pylon feels like KJ is trying to reach backwards beyond the 2003 album, leaning on the sound they created in Pandemonium and Democracy. There's songs on Pylon that remind me of that earlier material. The rest of it is Jaz, Geordie & Co. banging away like they have been for the last 13 years. Standout songs are "Euphoria" and "I Am the Virus."

Dark, hard-rocking, lethargic, and bad-ass
I have been into this band for three years at the most, so I'm a "new" fan. I wasn't there in the 80's, or even the 90's. Sure, I knew about them for almost twenty years, but it wasn't until I really dove into their albums that I realized how genius, how incredible Killing Joke is.I decided to really invest into the band and their backlog of music after listening to their more well-known songs on youtube, then decided to buy a few albums, including MMXII.MMXII really blew me away. The post-apocalyptic storytelling combined with their straightforward style crossed with their post-punk and new-wave influences just destroyed my misconceptions of what an aging band can do.So, obviously, I was wondering if their follow-up to that album was going to stand up to their recent works, and I must say without a doubt that it does so in spades. On Pylon, Killing Joke retain the brutality and passion from MMXII while bringing in past elements. From the start, you can tell that the synths are louder. So, as the keyboards are more prominent, the rest of the band are still easily audible - the guitars are loud, the bass guitar is still right thick and filling in the spectrum of sound it was named after, and the drums still hit hard. The songs really are well written and powerful. I feel like this album, pound for pound, even outweighs MMXII in quality. There are so many heavy-hitters on here that it's hard to find a favorite. My favorites are "Delete" and "Euphoria", but there are plenty of other great songs here. Go ahead and buy if you like any of the clips. It's great. It's another soundtrack to my life for another rough couple of years. Make it yours as well.

Still Kickin' em out....
Holy Crap.. These guys are still producing like they are in their 20's. Jazz's voice has not changed a lick! Unbelievable. Yet another Great Album from a band that can seemingly do no wrong... Play this on a good system and you are in heaven.... Keep it up KJ!

A Return to Form for Killing Joke With Some New, Interesting Hooks
While the first few tracks drone on, but are catchy in their own way, it seems to be the latter half of this album which really "explodes"! Killing Joke are master craftsmen at making artful sound and noise which can make you want to just listen, and this album is no exception. Some of the tracks are very catchy, and I can see myself listening to them again and again now, and on into the future. Progressive Killing Joke, but not too far from their heavier roots. Worth multiple listens, I think!

KILLING JOKE still ahead of the game !!!!
IF you are a fan or not that familiar with KILLING JOKE they are the REAL DEAL ! GREAT musicians, terrific writing with poignant lyrics. KJ has never shied from being political and this CD is a sort of return to their MID 80s output sound. ( yes they have been around since 79) with a bit more swirling synths to buoy the edgy guitar riffs and wonderful pounding tribal drums and bass lines. HIGHLY RECCOMEND this CD

A Killing Joke Release, Never Disappoints!
A sensational album including a bonus disc of mixes and alternate tracks used to expand the conscious messages of the groups. it is hard to believe it was released in late October 2015, because it is so current. What is happening now was predicted with some of these tracks in 2015! The mixes and quality is clear as a bell!!

Not their best
Don't get me wrong, this is a good album, but a little disappointing from the 'Joke'. Having stuck by them through thick and thin over the years, I never fail to be pleased by their latest album, but at the end of the day as a long-term fan, I'm alwasy hoping for something with the immediate charm/appeal of Brighter than a 1000 suns, or Fire Dances. This one din't hit that 'spot', though it does come close in places.

Best album and vocals for years
This really is a great album. There aren't many albums where every track is top notch but this is one of those. Jaz Coleman's vocals sound the best they have done for years. Stand out tracks are New Cold War,Euphoria,Big Buzz and on disc two Apotheosis,Panopticon and Snakedance. But if Snakedance is a Dub Re mix, what does the original mix sound like?. The only downside to this album is the lack of lyrics to read. I am partially sighted and have to read everything with a magnifier. It says in the notes that the lyrics can be downloaded, but if you can hardly see this can be too difficult. I can't be the only person that feels like this ,so come on lads and show us the lyrics next time.

This band just keep making better records with each new release
This band just keep making better records with each new release, nearly forty years into their career. Sheer, awesome power. Intense, melodic songs, delivered with utter confidence. The musicianship, the writing, the quality of production are all nothing short of excellent. Well worth investing in the deluxe edition, the bonus material being amongst the best tracks on the set. My seven year old daughter has started to request it, engaging a new generation of fans.

Decent Album
Recently returned to KJ after losing interest in the late 80's put off by their attempts at commercialism and my changing music tastes. After seeing you-tube vids of Euphoria and New Cold War I decided to buy the album. Lots of power, melodic and gtreat guitar sound from Geordie though I agree the heavy metal sound adopted sincr the 90s isnt always appreciated as some critics have stated. However the balance is good on this album.Euphoria is in my head since second listening and many other good tracks.

Amazing Album
I am already a huge Killing Joke fan going back to their very eraly singles like Wardance and Empire Song. This album certainly doesn't disappoint and they seem to be able to raise the bar with each new album they release over the last few years. I can't stop playing it and would recommend it to any die-hard fan or anyone new to experiencing the band, as even if you haven't heard the earlier stuff, this album is amazing - it hasn't been off my CD player since I bought it!

Pretty good, amazing that they can still produce a record as good and fierce as this after so many albums. Would probably have been a five star album if the production had been a little less muddy. Let Youth have a go at it next time!
