Very complete! A great step thorugh time!
I sent this to a good friend who is a jazz aficionado. The said it reminded him of how he and a buddy of his would troll through the local used record stores like Rasputin searching for albums in the jazz section. He has quite a collection at home now but most are packed away because he uses electronic media now instead of a turntable.Anyway he was AMAZED and DELIGHTED with the book. He told me that he was paging through it with his wife, and saying - yes, i have that one,. that one, that one,... etc. ALSO he and i commented on the quality of the design on many of those album covers. really inspired. Some of the greats like the late Milton Glaser were among the designers so it's pretty sophisticated and wonderfully nostalgic now. A GREAT FIND!!!!

Great value
Ignore the amount of pages as the book is only about 8 inches tall. All the writing in the book comes with two or three different languages so you can divide that by three now. So with that said the book is about 200 pages long not the 660+ they claim. Other than leaving out about 1.4 million records it’s still a great value for the money... As they obviously can’t include every record ever made. The book covers about .0043 % of all jazz records ever released.

I love these books
I love these books, Taschen as well as record cover books (I love the records as well though some are very tricky to find even on Amazon etc). Got many of the similar books but this is one of my favourites with some truly cool covers (wish I had been there in the 40s and 50s)

unimpressed.
The cover album , four freshman & five trombones lures you in.Regrettably it is downhill all the way from then on in.The author obviously likes jazz fusion and funk.Therein lies the problem!!!!!

Fantastic, buy it!
Great book for the jazz lover who is interested in people involved around the musicians like Creed Taylor, Rudy van Gelder etc. Some really obscure covers from smaller labels and lesser known artists.A definate must and certainly complementary with other books. I own the Coast to Coast, Blue Note and Prestige books and this still adds more depth and content next to the other three. In fact, I would probably start with this and then branch out in the individual labels.
