Great Plank, Great Smell, Great Flavor!
I've been looking to change up my game on the grill and happened to bump into some planks in the seasonal area in Lowe's. I decided to look on Amazon and was a bit hesitant with these planks as they appear new. Received my set of 6 planks which where well shipped and wrapped. Immediately in the box I could smell the rich cedar flavor from the box where the planks were. The planks are a bit heavy but it seems to be because of the thickness of the plank. The boards are fairly large but appear to be able to work in a smaller grill.I followed the directions and soaked a plank in the water for an hour to get that smokey flavor. I prepared our fish and elected to use the indirect cooking method, where you place it indirectly over the charcoal. I noticed the planks do take a bit extra to cook but the rich cedar flavor was outstanding. I was also able to fit two pieces of salmon very nicely on one plank and it seems like I MIGHT be able to reuse the plank again. There was a bit of charring but I might try to test it out and see if still will impart the flavor.I have not tested it out in the oven but I think I will do so with more seafood. I will keep updating my experience. I might need to put another order in soon though!
