Had troubles with the first thermometer: two of the touch screen buttons were inoperable. JMR sent me an email a day before the unit arrived saying in part, " Thank you for the purchase ... if you are experiencing problems or are unsatisfied with our product, contact us." I did exactly that the day after I received the faulty unit. Four days later a new thermometer arrived. The new unit is everything that I was expecting. The touch screen runs easily through the menu of various meats and allows the user to select from well done to rare. If you are a soup maker, soap maker or baker, the PROGRAM choice will allow you to customized the temperature setting for your endeavors.I chose this unit originally because other products that had a cable that was primarily silicone tended to fray and come apart at stress points. Our son has gone through two such thermometers in the past five years. This product's stainless steel cable appears to me to be more robust at those points. Time will tell.Finally, I'm impressed with JMR Products as a company. When you look to the product site on Amazon, they state that the buyer must be 100% satisfied with this thermometer or they will make it right to you.They certainly did for me. I highly recommend the product and the company.

It looked nice until I tried to use it - the "stand" to hold the thermometer upright so you can read it is basially part of the battery cover - so every time I used the stand the battery cover popped off. Very disappointing in how flimsy the stand and battery cover were. Sending mine back for a refund.

I did not receive a discount or a free product for my honest opinion. I paid for the thermometer that I received today, and I am thoroughly less than impressed. The screen was poorly visible (I tried new batteries twice) and only showed good contrast when looking down at the display...looking straight on or from underneath rendered the display unreadable. When I tried to set up the kickstand, which was attached to the battery cover, the battery cover routinely popped off when I set it on the counter. Testing temperatures against an IR gun thermometer and a stick-probe thermometer showed the temperatures about +6°F off. It's in the process of being returned to Amazon.

very cheaply made product. On screen controls don't work well. You can't open the kickstand without the battery compartment opening. I will be returning this.

Upon receiving the product, the display was already not working. I returned the product and purchased another thermometer from a local store instead.

Uses for all things grilling and in the kitchen as a timer! True to the times it says for doneness!

Switches on back don't always work, take a few flicks. Battery back is loose and likes to come off. Temp resets to celsius every time you turn it off and on. The last straw was just a little over 4 months after buying, the probe stopped working. Just reads HHH... Not a great product.

It's cheaply made. The screen is dim and can only be read from an awkward angle. Wouldn't really consider it a touch screen. Battery door pops off if you try to use the stand. The probe on mine didn't even work, it just showed 'LLLL'. (I used several sets of brand new batteries). Returning.
