Virtual Pose Duo: The Ultimate Visual Reference Series for Drawing the Human Figure

Good product but could be better.
This is a good product for artists interested in the human figure. I do have some issues with it, though. There are only three sets of models female/male, female/female and male/male. All of the models are white. I would really like to see more models and greater diversity. One of the male/male models is really not appropriate, imo. He's oddly proportioned with unusually broad shoulders, a small head and tree-trunk thighs. He's really hairy, obscuring the body lines. He's covered in really unfortunate blemishes, including what appears to be a huge hickey on his chest. He has a really flabby body with very little muscle definition. In some poses where his body is twisted there are fat rolls which upset the line of his body. He just is not at all appropriate as an art model. His partner in the poses, on the other hand, is perfect. It's too bad these poses lose some of their usefulness because of this because the poses themselves are actually good.Despite these flaws it is still a valuable resource for artists.

Great Book
This was the first art model book I've ever purchased for my classes. I'm not a professional photographer or anything like that, so I can't give you a bunch of technical information on the photos. But in my opinion they were high quality with a nice variety of poses (ranging from normal acting to dramatic acting) for each couple. The lighting/shadowing isn't as bright or dynamic as other art model books I purchased afterwards but the muscles are well-defined and the completely white background keeps your attention squarely on the figures - every part of the models' bodies are clearly visible and easy to redraw from the different angles available. It would have been nice to see other body types for reference, but this book provides great practice for beginners in life drawing.

Virtual Poser, Pricey but Worth it!
Though I do wish these series provided more content [most Virtual Poser books and DVDs only have under about 12 poses], I have to say that the quality of the images, the books, the DVD and the models are great. I would buy the entire series. I would like to see varying body types in other editions, including obese/over weight models and people from different ethnic backgrounds though.

Finally, How to Draw/Paint Figures Together
Virtual Pose Duo, the latest in the Virtual Pose series, takes the next logical step: offering two figures posed together. With couples in every combination (male/female, male/male, female/female), in color photos that can be enlarged with ease and rotated 360 degrees to offer views from every conceivable angle, AND print capability for those artists like me who can't sit and draw from a computer screen for very long without going blind, this new book pushes the envelope in the Virtual Pose series. It's definitely the best one yet.

Awesome Poses
I was required the purchase this book for my sequential art course at SCAD. (not life drawing) The poses in this book are perfect for practicing drawing two people on one page. Also it is very diverse, not just man and woman, but woman and woman, and man and man. This makes life much easier when trying to submit body positions to memory as well as imagine new poses.

This is a wonderful art aid. Not everyone can have a art model on had, but with this book you can.

Great reference tool
This is the second Virual Pose product I've purchased, and I'm not disappointed at all. It's a great tool for artists of all sorts. I'm an aspiring 3D modeler/animator, and the models were great help for seeing the many angles as reference.
