Amazon Basics Universal Toilet Fill Valve

If you’ve installed a few of these in your lifetime, you know you really don’t need the directions. Thank goodness because the directions that do come with this are pointless. Between the random pics of things they are suggesting you might use, to the included parts that are not all typical, your guess will be as good as mine as to where they may be used....if at all.Besides that, this seems like it will be a very good product. I was replacing 4 Korky fill valves that I thought at the time were great, but only lasted 6 months along with a corresponding $800 water bill. This product on the other hand is much more solid and once installed the water stopped on a dime! I’ve had great luck with other Amazon basic products such as paper shredders and it appears this item is just as well made. We shall see but so far so good!

I am a retired plumber and this is a new product to me. It took a few minutes to figure out how it worked, but a very interesting design. The "switch" on the side says "on", "off", on and off what? It should be lock or unlock, but that won't fit on the switch. Only time will tell if this is a good unit. It looks like it would fit a variety of tank depths due to the range of adjustments. I gave 4 stars because the direction could be a little better.

Received a prior returned valve, returned it because I had no way to know if it was defective without installing it.I have replaced many toilet parts over the years and understand how the parts all work, my issue with this is the poor instructions for someone that is doing this for the first time.How about someone at Amazon actually look at what they are selling under their name and correct the flaws of the instructions?I gave this 3 stars because I like the design, ordered a valve of the same design by another maker.

The installation instructions are terrible. There are tiny drawings with nothing that shows the parts and how to install it in the toilet. It leaked. I ended up throwing it away and installing a Flowmaster fill valve that had nice clear instructions.

I'm disappointed in this purchase. I bought this set to fix my toilet which was leaking. The directions do not match the product. For example, in Step 1 it says to "adjust the height by screwing the upper and lower tubes" and then shows a picture of a twisting motion. This is not correct-- you need to pull the lower tube out from the top tube. Step 2 says to "pull the adjusting rod and raise of lower the fixed ring"--- again, not correct. You need to TWIST the rod to move it up and down. I ended up breaking the rod trying to pull it out of the holder-- as it is instructed and shown in the picture.Overall, it was cheap plastic and faulty instructions. I do not recommend this product.

Works great at a good price

Once you figure out how to adjust the height, it's easier than any other fill valve out there. Also impressed that it has an inlet screen to filter out the pipe crud that is the death of most valves. Glad I got it before the price doubled. Wish I got two more.

Relatively easy, didn’t fit my water line probably because my house is older, $10 hose at the hardware store did the trick. Also, this isn’t silent, but it’s not loud while it takes the 20-30 seconds to refill either.
