Bummed.
I loved this stool, it is SOO cute! That's why I was so bummed then I received it and realized how small it was. Much smaller than I was expecting. I was hoping to use it to get into high cabinet in my kitchen and then eventually using it as a step stool for my son as he got older. I can use it for most things in my kitchen (I still occasionally have to just climb up on the counter), but my son definitely won't be able to use it as a step stool to reach the sink. I am going to have to find something else that is taller.

looks pretty rough, but not in a "distressed vintage" way
It's a very cute design, and just the right size, but not level. Mine wobbles, but I'm hoping it won't be noticeable as it will be on a rug. Also it's made from pressed plywood, and you can see the layers on the raw cut sides...looks pretty rough, but not in a "distressed vintage" way. It's also a bit sticky as though the varnish didn't fully dry. But that said, it's a very inexpensive stool so I can't really fault the poor craftsmanship too much. You get what you pay for. Just wish it had been more visible in the picture because the real thing is a bit of a let down compared to the product photo.

Attractive, but NOT sturdy! BEWARE.
These stools are attractive, vintage-style stools, but I would not say they are sturdy... I actually purchased two of these stools and last week I was using one to reach something in an upper cabinet and it collapsed! I am not a particularly obese person - I am a female weighing about 145 lbs. Fortunately, I was not hurt; however, I could have been. I am going to see if I can get both benches reinforced, but I would caution any adult to stand on this bench - it is held together with nails, not bolts or screws..

SHAKER-lLIKE: BEAUTIFULLY SIMPLE & RELIABLY STURDY
This is a fine product at a very good price! I wish I had ordered more, because Amazon dos not have any more, and doesn't know when it will be available again. What I like about it is it's Shaker like design: Simple & Sturdy. As a Senior I appreciate how well built it is each night when I use it beside my high four-poster bed. It is a great help getting both up and done. I have another place where I could use one and a grandchild who would like one. It would be great for anyone. It took a little longer to arrive than anticipated, but well worth the wait.

Didn't get the color I ordered
I want to add a revised review. I did today receive the black stool as promised! I received the stool in white when I ordered it in black. It is cute and light but quite small. After seeing the reviews where the stools broke and people fell I will add some nails as a safety precaution.

Gets the job done but cheaply made.
The good: Light weight. The angle cut construction makes this unit very sturdy. The Bad: This unit is made from cheap plywood with a so-so finish. There are air gaps between the ply layers. It's about 50% overpriced. It's usable but I would not buy another one. I'll make sure my next step stool purchase is solid wood, like pine, not plywood.

I was disappointed with the quality of the wood for the price
I was disappointed with the quality of the wood for the price. I assumed they would be solid wood and not plywood for $40 each. You can clearly tell they are plywood on the unfinished edges and one of ours even had a bit of unglueing on the corner so it was even more obviously not solid wood.

This step stool works out well, I only wish ...
This step stool works out well, I only wish it had a wider top surface as I felt unsteady standing on it. Otherwise it is attractive, I am using it to place small plants on the top surface instead of a step stool
