Absolutely Life Changing!
I considered myself a pretty healthy person. Tried to avoid sugar and ate what I considered a healthy diet. In my 40's I noticed discomfort with eating red meat, so I would avoid it now and then. I mostly ate a low carb high protein diet of chicken, eggs and fish, veggies. A little fruit. But later in my late 40's as I began going thru some pre-menopausal stages, I noticed a big difference in my body reacting badly when I ate any form of meat. I would get a very bloated tummy, or at the least I would crash after these kinds of meals. I started to think this high protein diet wasn't working out so well, and remembered this book a friend of mine recommended to me months prior. He himself had cured his own cancer by only eating raw fruits and veggies. I decided I needed to detox and bought this book. So much has changed! Previously I wasn't consuming much fruit, as I was under the impression it would make me gain weight. I had to take handfuls of vitamins just to keep my nails... But now I eat fruit for breakfast and lunch or a snack later in the day.. and I eat salads for lunch and dinner.... I have gone completely VEGAN and I FELL GREAT!!! Within the first 2 weeks I lost 6 pounds and have kept it off so far. (I am going on 4 weeks now...) My nails are crazy long and strong, and my skin is so clear! My co-workers started noticing right away. No more tummy troubles, no more crashing and needing naps after my meals. I have consistent energy that lasts all day! So I currently eat no meat or meat products, careful with my breads and starchy veggies, and eat lots of fruits, veggies and salads. Gave up coffee too, and so far so good. I never want to go back. I feel much more aware and in tune... I feel like I see things more clearly. It was obvious in the past I took for granite all the meat that I ate... Disconnected from the actual source. The rest of my family is not Vegan, so I still have to cook for them their way of eating, but I look at meat completely differently now. I don't think it is wrong to eat meat, but I do think people who choose to consume it should be more thankful for the life that was given. I do believe people who eat meat would be much more healthy if they ate less of it! When it comes to food choices, I'm just at a point in my life where I can completely live without meat and be happier than I have ever been before. The healthy food choices out there are amazing and I crave all the good produce available... I have many great books on nutrition and health, but this book by far is the best book I have ever come across! I highly recommend to all!
