Not his best effort
I have always loved Stephen King novels. However, this one was a rambling, stream of consciousness mess. I had to go back and read over the last pages again and again to try to understand what was happening. For a person who reads several books a week, this is annoying, to say the least. I will still read his next book, if there is one. He fascinates me with the way he thinks, generally. This book was not my favorite, by any means.

compelling reading
I bought the book with no idea about it's story line. I was pleasantly surprised by the portrayal of these young teen characters. As a former high school teacher, I could understand their pain and humor as well as their addiction to video games.

Worth the time
Great dark coming of age story. Mr. King himself recommended it. I would have given it a five... But, it's a little slow in the beginning but worth the read!

Confusing
This book is geared to those in on the younger generation. For older readers it is hard to follow and not stimulating.

Joyland (backlit)
I did not enjoy this book at all. I thought it was very poorly written. I have never read anything before by this author and based on this book would probably not read anything else by her.

Joyland
I thought I was buying Steven King's Joyland. My mistake. So I read it anyway, I thought it was a little boring.

Joyland
Probably one of the best books written by Stephen King. Not the usual King story but instead a warm wonderful story of a young man crossing into adulthood and the things he learned.

Coming of age during the evolution of computer games
Teenage angst amongst flashing lights of silicon oblivion. A sweet and gentle tale which meanders along to a jarring conclusion.
