I'm generally opposed to people posting reviews after getting an item for free. So I was hesitant to order this product that had very few reviews that were NOT written by non-compensated reviewers. With that said, I am impressed with this sharpener. Ran all my knives through it immediately, and the results were excellent. I cannot review the longevity yet, but so far feels like a quality, effective sharpener.

I cook at my friend's place a lot. I always complained about their dull knives, so I got this as a gift (partly to myself [shhh]). The coarse grinder does a good job to bring those long-gone knives back to life, while the fine grinder finishes the job and maintains already sharp knives.The design forces you to work fairly slowly because the knife isn't guided into place with a V-shaped catch. The handle does a good job at keeping your hands away from the knife. I was shocked at how well the grind set worked.I'm not exaggerating when I say I couldn't slice a tomato. The knife would often squish the fruit before cutting. Now it's like slicing through butter.**DISCLAIMER**I can't comment on durability or life-span on the grind-set because I have only had this product for a few months. What I've seen impresses me.

It's not the best knife sharpener I've ever used, and it will never replace a well oiled diamond whetstone, but it hones very well for day to day quick jobs, and I was impressed with how well it got some burrs out of my heavy usage chef knife.

So far I have managed to sharpen about a dozen knives. It is rather easy to use. I love that it has a handle on it rather than a standard grip. It makes things a great deal easier. My knives came out pretty good! They are slicing a lot better and the knicks they had are gone.

I didn't think this thing would actually work. I got it based off reviews that I have seen here. I have several knives that were so dull that I was contemplating on throwing them away. Decided on a whim to buy this and try to resurrect life into my old knives. I'm very glad I did.... Took 10 or 15 passes on each setting to get them sharp...but it actually worked. They are now sharp enough to shave hair off your arm... (fiance says that this is disgusting, but it's a guys was of telling if a knife is really sharp). I would recommend this to anyone that has some knives that are in desperate need of sharpening. Additionally....it's easier to use than a steel... my fiance is scared to use the steel as it seems unsafe...this thing though is very safe, easy to use and very effective.

This may not be the best knife sharpener available but for the price it more than pays for itself and does just about everything I need it to do. I have purchased another one for my Mom and one for a close friend who was complaining about dull knives.

It doesn't re-edge dull knives, at least not in any kind of timely manner. It also does not fix any minor damage to the blade (pitting).That being said, it will keep knives that are already in good condition working fairly well. I can get a decent edge with the carbide blade, but the ceramic does not seem to do anything, even on high quality steel. Still, it's better than nothing, and very simple to use.

I had a few knifes I was ready to throw away but now I love them again. Just pull the knife through the rough side a few times to sharpen and then a few pulls through the smooth side to polish and they cut like new, plus it's easy to hold with the large handle
