These cubes are really an easy way to germinate seeds. It would lie better for the novice like me if the product contained information on how to use the product. The pH of the material is very basic, pH off scale >7 in the pH Down/Up treat kit I am using. Seems to require a long soak, perhaps even adding some pH down to the soak to neutralize some of the base. So far only 3 out of 14 starts of varieties of lettuce, kale, basil, dill, only 3 have survived. Not sure if the cubes are at fault, but am soaking them and getting pH down to mildly acidic range (pH 5.5-6.5). Started 14 more cubes in hydroponic system yesterday after the pH was in the right range.

We were using these for hydroponics starts. However, we found that the cells in the middle were sagging down into the water all the time while the edges were drying out. We had to use a piece of wood to tilt the tray back and forth for a few hours to evenly water the cells. We will not buy these again.

This is a sturdy, well made seed starter set. I like that it has so many pods in a compact tray, and the height of the dome gives your plants plenty of room. I use it for succulents, so I don’t use the water tray as much as I would for vegetable seedlings. I gave it a 4 for durability because I haven’t had it long enough to truly judge, but it seems sturdy. My only concerns are that it was slightly damaged upon arrival due to the lack of padding in the Amazon box, and the tray bows slightly in the middle. Neither issues are a deal-breaker. In fact, I’m about to order two more!

This was perfect to grow seedlings, keeps moisture and humidity at a good level needed to sprout seeds.

This product was what I expected. My intention was for hydroponics and I was able to manipulate it to make it work.
