Shaving Soap WSP Formula T (Ol' Kentucky) 4 Oz Made with Shea Butter & Tallow

I decided to wait until I had a couple of months use before writing a review of this product. Some reviews have not been so complimentary of Ol' Kentucky. It could be that I'm quite a bit older than most reviewers, and have clear memories of my "born in the 19th century" grandfather and his time capsule medicine cabinet. Ol' Kentucky takes me immediately back to the Old South of my youth, at least what was left of it following the War of Northern Aggression. Cherished memories, gentlemanly habits, and Sunday dinners. Memories of home and hearth, of great deeds, great ladies, and of lost causes. Ol' Kentucky is all of these things; I can't explain it any better than that. The aroma is from another time, a better time, and I suppose that's why the reviews have been so varied. To appreciate the scent of this WSP formulation, one needs the memories to go with it...or else a sense of "Hiraeth", that longing for a homeland you never knew. As for me, Ol' Kentucky is a gem of a find, so I recommend it. I recommend it highly. Deo Vindice

This soap is hands down my favorite shave soap. I like the smell, but the soap itself is incredible. My skin never feels dry and it provides a nice rich thick lather. The shave is very smooth. The scent is a little antique is the best way I can describe it. It's complex, and reminds me of my grandpa. I find it hard to describe but it is not fruity or flowery. It's just there. This has become my go-to shave when dressing up or donning a suit. Definitely find the smell a cooler weather scent. It's a "gentleman" in a tub! You need a pair of had stitched classy tan brogues to go with it!The best part with this soap is it is a artisan soap. I contacted the company with a issue I had with a scent I had of theirs in their vegan line. They quickly replaced it and were prompt with their response. This company has some of the best customer service I have ever experienced.

I've been using WSP shaving soaps for nearly a year. I'm more than satisfied with all their soaps, actually considering their vegan and tallow based soaps to be the best I've used thus far, especially for the price per ounce. WSP soaps have a small ingredients list, are easy to load in bad water, and are extremely slick with good cushion. I believe this Formula-T is slightly slicker than their vegan version. All their soaps have the right amount of fragrance too, Mahogany and Tobacco being my favorite. I added their Mahogany Aftershave, balm, and cologne to the shave den as well - so intoxicating!!! I rank this soap above Cella, AOS, Proraso, and even Stirling. Its skin conditioning is just as ample as Valobra. I'm no longer tempted to order Martin de Candre.

Amazing stuff! I've used many of the top artisan soaps and Formula T hangs with the best. Rich, creamy, and slick lather with a better post shave feel than the Rustic Shaving Soap(which is great too, this is just an improvement). Definitely a great value in shave soap. I would prefer that the tubs were larger, because loading your brush can get pretty messy. I've learned to work around it, but some head room in the tubs for easier loading would be an added benefit in my opinion.

Scents are hard to review for others. I love this scent though. More importantly, WSP has created an excellent shaving soap. It's a hard croap, lathers extremely well, doesn't take much to load a brush and provides a cushion and glide that rivals the most expensive soaps. I have used this soap exclusively for the past year and will keep buying it.

Ok so I love Formula T Barbershop smell it's just great. so I figured this Ol' Kentucky sounds like an interesting scent so I bought it. Wanna know what it smells like? One word. NOTHING. I could not smell it when I open the canister so I tried to hand lather it. Now let me tell you the lather it produced was awesome but the smell......0. Nothing, zero, zilch, UNSENTED!. I even hand lathered it and held it up to my face and still nothing.I even got my wife and daughter to smell they both said "we don't smell anything". I gave it 2 stars cause it lathered great. If you like uncented than this is for you.

Excellent product! This is one of the best shaving soaps on the market. It gives great protection and cushion with great slickness. No nicks or cuts while using this. Nice scent, not overpowering. Will definitely purchase again. Highly recommend to all DE shavers.
