Big Bible - great study aide
Love this Bible. Love the study notes. Love the NLT! Physically bigger than I expected. Will not be carrying it to church and back BUT great for my study times as I intended.

Detailed Easy to read "Study" Bible-Love it!
This is a very easy to read Bible and is very detailed in regards to commentary on each of the Chapters. It definitely is a "Study" Bible, so it's heavier and bigger. Love that Jesus's words are in red.

Great study book.
Really love this book. I like how things are explained. Everything is very clear. The information is very good. I like it when books give me all the information and I don’t have to go find it elsewhere. I recommend this book to everyone that wants to study the Bible. It is thick but that doesn’t bother me.

Nice Bible, even if a basic hardback cover, content and NLT is wonderful.
I also ordered this is a beautiful soft cover Bible, where the cover is so pretty and smooth/soft. This will be a review essentially of both. They were identical on the inside. I found from a few nights of using the soft back cover that the spine wasn't recovering well from being opened. I don't know if it would have have failed eventually, but that was also my concern of the hardback version too, that the spine covering of the hardback would crack. Also know, this is a thick and heavy Bible. The soft cover is flexible and requires you to hold it carefully so as to not let it flex too much and get away from you. The hardback was a little easier to handle. Overall, I chose to keep the hardback for it's ease in holding and the cheaper price. Regarding the content, the NLT translation is wonderful - my first time reading NLT and I'm definitely a fan, coming off of KJV and NKJV. I love the study content, although I'm still learning how best to use all of the info. I do admit that I first read my NKJV (a personal challenge to touch every page in that NKJV Bible) and then I move over and re-read it in the NLT. Of course this takes quite a bit of time to read it twice, then the study notes. For now, I'll continue, but I can easily see myself setting aside my NKJV for this one.

great translation for new and returning Christians
While I have yet to meet a pastor in person who recommends this translation as a first choice for members, I have heard some of the "radio" pastors I respect - Greg Laurie, Tony Evans, David Jeremiah, etc. - quote from it in sermons. I have even used it on occasion for some of the comments I post on Facebook and Youtube, for example, because the clarity and familiarity of the NLT's English vocabulary and grammar will be familiar to majority of English speakers. In addition, it doesn't tend to confound online translation apps such as those offered by Microsoft and Google.I own Bibles in various translations - KJV, NKJV, NIV, ESV, NLT - and enjoy and use them all, but when it comes to gifting new Bibles to prospective believers or to people who haven't picked up a Bible in years, I have found the NLT translation to be an excellent way to help them transition into a life where "the Word of God is alive and powerful" (Hebrews 4:12).When asked by folks what Bible translation I recommend, my response is always the same: "The one you'll read." The NLT is a great option.
