I only leave product reviews that have I have in hand and field tested as the product was designed to be used. These fish hooks and barb protectors guard caps work best on standard hooks, this 1/2" version perhaps not as good on sickle styled hooks but a longer 3/4" version may be in the future and should be idea for sickle style hooks. These protectors are not a hard plastic, these are made from a soft flexible material which is necessary to bend and conform to the hook shape. The protectors are white, somewhat clear and almost translucent which allows you to see the hook at it near the end. The hook will protrude through the end of the material if pushed hard enough as it would with any protector. I've added a extra layer of protection by using performix plasti dip on the end of the protectors, it also adds color which makes the protectors easier to see and find if accidently dropped against a light background. In my experience, I've found installing the protectors on hooks and lures in my tackle box ahead of time works best for me. This allows for a quicker, safer pick up of hooks and lures when it's time to re-tie a fishing line. The hook and barb protectors help prevent hooks from snagging on skin, clothing and fishing line while swinging hooks and lures tying complicated fishing knots. Keep in mind, you are paying in advance for less frustration and potential injury while on the water which is important. These hook and barb protectors would be ideal for those wishing to protect sharp hook ends on display lures.

Does the job for hook size 4,2,1,1/0 which is not to get poke. It's not meant for mosquitoes hooks size 6,8, and 10 since the hooks are so thin.

These hook protectors work pretty good! I would make two suggested improvements. The rubbery plastic or silicone they are made of works just right to form onto various size hooks, but they could use just a little more thickness in the tip to help prevent very sharp hooks from pushing through. Also, if the plastic Ziploc bags they come in were not so heavily taped up when you receive them, you wouldn't have to tear the bag up to get them out. The price is kinda high, but they do work and I haven't seen anything else that I would prefer. I use them mainly on the tackle for younger kids.

These are high quality hook protectors. I use them when shipping fishing lures from my Ebay store. But they are expensive. There are other products on the market that are just as effective, but cost far less per unit.

There were not 100 in the bag, bag was poorly packed. Not a repeat purchase from me.
