You should never tighten these with a qrench. Only remove them with a wrench. Hand tighten to avoid crushing the gasket and breaking the nut on top.

2008 Silverado 5.3 The K&N filter #1017 is the only one I use easy install and removal 1" socket /ratchet used for the filter nut, tighten up to a firm snug only
