Vintech 573 500 Series Mic Pre The Vintech 573 500 Series preamp is class A, all discrete, transformer balanced and is based on the 1073 circuit. The unit also features a new discrete high impedance d.i. that goes through the input transformer. The units are hand built in the U.S.A. by us. This unit contains no I.C.'s and no surface mount components and contains three all discrete class A amplifiers as in the original 1073. The tone from this pre is amazing. Whether you're pairing it with a great mic (try the Sure SM7b for deep, rich vocals) or plugging a bass in direct, or anything inbetween, this unit sounds fantastic. This was my first foray into the world of 500 series modules and I could not be happier. I bought a pair of them and I'm pretty sure my other gear feels neglected ever since.Besides the killer tone, the build is solid. Switches and knobs are sturdy and "tight" in the sense that they engage with solid feel- no cheap pots or loose jacks. These modules work great with my BAE lunchbox, no power issues.My only slight complaint is that they get a bit noisy when the gain is cranked over 60, but that's kind of standard, I'd say, and unless you're using an old ribbon or low output dynamic, it's not an issue at all... I use the Cloudlifter box for those mics anyway, and it pairs well with this pre.I'll probably buy another set, honestly, when I can afford it!
