AF Hema Black Pants w/Extra Protection

These are well made fencing knickers and should work fine. I'm a 34" waist and wear size large in Olympic fencing knickers. After reading reviews and sizing info, I went with an XL for these HEMA pants. I took out the foam pads intended to go in these pants and wear over a "football girdle" compression pant with built-in padding. They fit good, with enough room to move around. Size large would have been too small even without padding.

Seller fulfilled twice accidentally, but fulfilled quickly. The pants are what they are. They do come with suspenders.

I got these for longsword sparring. These run on the small side. When ordering, you should order the next size up. My waist is a 31, but I had to get the Large, which starts at waist size 34. The Medium pants fit me, but only with the protection removed from the sides and NO groin cup. You have to wear a cup for sparring, so I had to order the pants in Large. The Large pants do fit me with the protection pads in and while wearing groin cup. Overall these pants are decently constructed, but could be better. The main material of the pants could be thicker, the side protection could cover further down, and the included suspenders could be improved a bit. All in all, these are decent working pants for HEMA.

Fitting/sizing for pants are on the small side. If you are on the cusp of a size get the larger one. Also appears material on waste is not elastic like traditional fencing knickers, so very tight at waist. Thigh pads are more like HIP pads as they ride very high on the waist. Overstraps are ok, they keep in place but are a little flimsy. Would recommend to wear an Underarmor sliding pants under it or extra mid thigh or side padding.

I’m really on the fence with this purchase. Yes, they’re pretty sturdy, but the sizing is completely wrong.In my case, my inseam is too snug. I took out the weird padding because it’s not doing much for me.I can see these as being good for guys, but it’s definitely hit or miss if you’re a lady.Clutch your pearls! Yes, ladies also like to fight with swords. We also need pants. It’ll be better if it was a bit more accommodating for the lady curves.
