I really like these bars
I really like these bars. I'm a big fan of dark chocolate and raspberries, so this is a slam dunk for me. After I've finished a healthy breakfast and settled down with a book and some coffee, I love something like this. Actually, I love a donut, but that really shoots the healthy breakfast thing right down. For some reason these are in short supply these days, so I bought 3 boxes at once. Ouch! That works out to more than the cost of 3 dozen donuts, so I will have to content myself with Good to Go Bars now and then. But they ARE good!

An O.K. Bar That Gives a Decent Chocolate Fix
Several things drew my attention to these bars: that they are gluten-free, their sugar content isn't super high, they contain a decent amount of fiber and protein, and of course, the flavor sounded great.Upon actually trying them, though, the flavor becomes far less of a "pro" and far more of a "con." It just doesn't have much taste. There is a bit of chocolate flavor, though I agree with other reviewers that it tastes much more of milk chocolate than dark. As for the raspberry, there is barely even a hint of that flavor, and what there is tastes pretty artificial.Additionally, each bar has 120 calories. That wouldn't be an issue if the bars were relatively large in size. However, they're definitely on the small side. They're about 3-ish inches long and about 1-1.5 inches wide. They're just not very substantial at all.Texture-wise, they're soft and easy to chew. That said, I would have preferred more of a crunch factor; more of an actual bite. All in all, the nutritional factors are definite positives and for those looking for a not-incredibly-unhealthy-way in which to satisfy a sweet tooth, this would be an okay choice. For everyone looking for an intensely flavored bar - where the flavor fully delivers on the product's title - whose size justifies the calorie count, this does not that fit particular bill.

Nothing Special
I am an admitted chocoholic and need an occasional fix. This South Beach bar serves that purpose but just barely. It is not something I would purchase because of its mediocre flavor. The raspberry flavor is really lame. I have never tasted a raspberry that lacked the taste as much as this bar has. The chocolate is not "Dark Chocolate" by any stretch of the imagination. Having said all that I will admit that this bar is edible but just not tasty enough for my satisfaction. There are plenty of tastier bars available that have the same number of calories or less but have a superior flavor. I am not going to nit pick the ingredients because a chocolate fix is something that is only done on fairly few occasions. However, on those occasions when the need is pressing the most important factor is the taste. I am not suggesting that these bars are bad but just that they don't pass the taste test required to suppress the chocolate urge. If you are a frequent consumer of chocolate bars then this may be right down your alley. If you are just an occasional consumer, as I am, to satisfy an urge once a week or longer then this won't do the trick.

Decadent Snack for Gluten-Free Eaters
For people used to diet/gluten-free snacks, this will be a tasty treat. For those who aren't used to it, this will definitely taste "diet" to you.The chocolate and raspberry flavors blend quite nicely and the bar wasn't too grainy like other diet snack bars I've had. I like the brownie-like consistency because so many of these treats have a granola quality that I don't care for. This one tastes more like a rice crispy treat covered in chocolate and the chocolate is smooth, not chalky.Although I enjoyed this snack bar, it is a little too rich for my tastes. I could only eat half a bar before the richness overwhelmed me. For those who have to watch their sugar, the bar is still 6g sugars and has 19 carbs. Not as bad as a candy bar, but probably not a snack you'd have everyday.

High fiber, small, chocolate flavored bars
The South Beach Diet Gluten Free Dark Chocolate Raspberry outside box comes with five individually wrapped bars inside. The bars are fairly small but they are packed and intense, these are not fluffy airy wet bars. If you find them a bit dry, there's always water or tea or some other beverage. I did not find them dry (it's a fairly small bar after all), but different people have different preferences. As a nutritional bar (not as a dessert) the taste is pretty good as I like both chocolate and raspberries. Even as a dessert this is not a bad. Having more fiber than sugars and equal protein and sugars is pretty good compared to many candy bars. One bar is 120 calories with 5g fat (3g saturated, 0g trans), 0mg cholesterol, 90mg sodium (4% RDA), 19g carbs (9g dietary fiber, 6g sugars) and 6g protein. They also have 10% calcium, 8% iron and 2% potassium. The nutritional information is both on the outside box and the five individual wrappers. The box promises that they are gluten-free with "no artificial flavors or sweeteners". The list of ingredients however is long, as with many prepackaged mass-market foods, and it includes all kinds of soy things. It also contains milkiness as milk is included (along with soy) in the allergen information segment. Also, there are no raspberries in the ingredients, but these are advertised as "Dark Chocolate Raspberry flavored". I am guessing the "raspberries" perhaps may be hiding in the mysterious "natural flavors". One decision point on this bar is where you draw the line on ingredients. Are you willing to make compromises or do you prefer only basic ingredients and none of the usual prepackaged food additions?
