EMT Basic Exam Textbook: EMT-B Test Study Guide Book & Practice Test Questions for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Basic Exam

I will rate this book at 3 stars for the following reasons: I can not attest to its value as a NREMT test prep guide because I have not taken the test yet but, I have reservations.1. Could not find Copyright notice on Amazon or in book as is required for copyright protection. Book was selected because of reviews.2. I am a former US Forest Service Fireline Paramedic. Certification is no longer valid, am now re-certifying first as EMT as is required.3. Several mistakes convinces me that this is old material. Old, no longer used certifications are used in this book. EMT-B or Basic is no longer a certification. The new EMT certification approximates the training of the old I-85. I-99 is gone with the new certification as AEMT. My current course is at 152 hours plus Ambulance and Hospital rotations for the new EMT. The certified EMT_B under new NREMT regulations must take transition course and re=examination for new EMT certification.4. Clinical mistakes appear here too. The Trendlenburg position is now contraindicated as a shock treatment. Head lower than feet can cause an artificially higher BP reading which could cause health care practitioners to miss the vital signs of Decompensated Shock. This is a potentially deadly mistake for the patient, almost certainly deadly to a child.Pg 11 States a child's tongue is larger than the mouth, not so. It is proportionately larger than an adult's. Pg 14 Infant Airway procedure 5 back-blows and 5 chest compressions. Pg 15 Cricoid pressure in young children is contraindicated. Pg 22 PQRST is OPQRST O= Onset of pain, T= Past history of the same type of pain.A new book is needed for today's EMT level of training with evidence based procedures not treatment based on traditions.

I purchased 6 Review products as I was not sure which would be best and planned to keep 2 and sell the rest to class mates...I have spent some time with each of them at this point and YOUR PRODUCT has its strengths in being concise and clear to understand. Some products were like a review of my course text book (way to much information for a exam review, while others were just too basic and I felt did not challenge me at all.) Yours will be the book I use in the last week before my exam to ensure my success. This book was helpful in preparation for the EMT-B exam. It included materials from each section that are tested on the exam. The book was well organized. I wouldn't recommend just studying this book, but instead studying this book with other materials also. In addition to this book, I also used the EMT crash course book and Emergency care by Limmer. Overall, this is good for a brief review, because most of the information is basic, and doesn't go into detail.

I thought the book was very helpful, It helped with knowledge but mainly with being able to take the nation exam. Sometimes you know the information, but over think the questions and get caught in the stress of the test . Very happy I purchased it. I’m very thankful and would recommend to all people to read being taking NREMT.

I have enjoyed my purchase and found the tips and content top notch and digestible. I am also a Physical Therapist and have purchased other exam prep materials for other national healthcare provider exams. This study guide ranks at the top of my list of exam prep materials. I purchased this on my own but plan on recommending it to fellow recruits!

I thought the study guide was exactly what I needed to get me into Paramedic School. I have been an EMT for 20 years and firefighter for 14 years which actually hurt me because we don’t always go by the EMT Basic Book. I liked the tips for taking tests and most of all the pertinent information for each subject. I highly recommend this study guide!

I would rate it a 4The reason I didn't give a 5 is the book is really cool I must say but after all test taking is really dry and boring for students and this book is really dry my opinion is to make this somehow a bit interesting I think students will love it more that way!

Very good info applicable to the class. There could have been a few more questions and scenarios to practice but it was very helpful. It seems like it will make a huge difference on the test!

Looking to become a firefighter/EMT. Buying all of the information before hand so as I'm prepared when I take the course. The book came in brand new condition and has a lot of very useful information regarding medical and test taking information for those that have test anxiety. Very happy with my purchase, at a very reasonable price.
