Very good book for a beginner bookbinder
This book is very good as a starting book. It covers basic structures as pamphlet or accordion binding. This might not be a book for you if you are an experienced binder or if you already have several books on the subject, covering these structures already. If you want to start binding books, this book is for you; it is very thorough, it has step by step photos and it is very easy to follow. It also explains the basic types of binding and at the end it displays 20 sample books made by experienced binders showing all the bindings explained in the book. I have been doing bookbinding for several years now and I have several books on the subject. I really liked the book, but I was a little disappointed that it was for beginners.

If you want a book on book binding, then this product is perfect. It has information on using a variety of different ways to bind including using book binding screws. Easy to follow and incorporate each type of binding. I had purchased another type of book, and all it had ways decrotive types of binding for scrapbooking and childrens books. Mostly on how to use various types of twine and cords. I needed a serious binding book, and this fit the bill. It does have instructions on binding with cord, twine and others, so this book is for anyone interested in learning the art. Arrived on time.

Great Overview
I haven't gotten the chance to actually do any of the projects in this book yet, but I did flip through it yesterday when I received it. I was pleasantly surprised at how informative it was, particularly when listing what sort of tools should be used and when showing step-by-step procedures for bookbinding. However, I did feel that the book glossed over some more traditional/antiquarian methods and focused more on the "modern" or "artistic" styles. I have no interest in the accordian-binding process or any of the other artistic ones (like the carousel), and I was actually looking for information regarding leather binding procedures for an old, leather tome project I'd like to start. Regardless, this is really great for a variety of projects and I will definitely be using it for practice before I embark on my final endeavour, as well as for reference purposes. If you are thinking of getting into bookbinding, I really do recommend this book.

Excellent and comprehensive
Of the possible first or only books about traditional and art bookbinding, if I could only have one to start with, it would definitely be this one. It carefully covers the basics of sewing your text block and making a hardcover book, and then presents a variety of other bookmaking options. There is a good balance of illustrations and text, with cookbook style recipes to start, then formulas to make your own variations.

Nice book
Nice book. Starts with an introduction to the equipment you need. Covers the basics with very beautiful photographs. Plus some more advanced techniques. The price is right. Measurements are given both in metric system and in inches, which is a big plus for me. If you want to learn about bookbinding but don't know where to start, this is a very good source you would want to have in your library.

Excellent book on basic bookbinding!
Wow...having been in the artist book/book arts field for over 40 years, this is one of the best books I have seen to learn the basics of Bookbinding. The instructions are very clear, the photographs are excellent, and the drawings really show the techniques off very well. I'll be recommending it to my students for sure!

Fully Easy to understand
Very visual instructions, thoroughly goes through the needed materials needed for the specific book you want to make. Though it maybe short with not a lot more in depth study of the subject. But for an absolute beginner, this is a wonderful book worth buying for what it's worth.

Not exactly what I expected, yet pretty cool
I have studied bookbinding for a year now, so when I saw this book and the content inside, I thought this was a cool adition for me. I think this is a good book, for beginners, or fot those whose aproach to bookbinding is about creativity, I was looking for new structures in making books, and though this book has some nice ideas, I think it wasn't what I expected. Yet you can lear some really nice things here.
