Gold Star Ballroom Series: Rumba

What a pleasant surprise to find so many beautiful rumbas for this price. The disc was produced in Holland in 2003. With the exception of Johny Guitar, every track has vocals. (It would be nice to know who sings the lead vocals). The titles are listed with both the duration and the beats per minute (bpm). The tempos vary from 23-27 bpm. In a couple cases (noted below), the beat will be difficult for beginners to hear. This is useful for parties and practice. Several of these are the identical or extended version of tracks on Dancelife's Best of Rumba album. The Rumba Beat comes out great in all the song. It makes staying with the beat or getting back on the beat easy. The recordings are also great for listing enjoyment. Gold Star Ballroom Series: Rumba

I teach intro ballroom dancing to college students and needed more rumba music for teaching. These do, of course, have rumba rhythms, so the CD is still useful, but some of the songs are pretty cheesy. I would have preferred something a little more interesting musically, but perhaps I should have known better just by looking at the cover!

Skips while playing, otherwise love the series. Perfect for practicing our dancing. Rose Marie
