I love this music player. Its fidelity and ability to play many formats, plus the Bluetooth for when I need to work out. The fact that it has a memory slot is awesome! Hidiz has really done a killer job on this, I can't wait to see the future versions. Sound: FANTASTIC Drive: it can drive any headphones you throw at it.

I was very skeptical about buying this product but for above average reviews on YouTube vlogs. I had already purchased the Sony Walkman NW- A105 as well as the NW-A45. So, I had some reference points. In a word, this product is "surprising". I didn't expect this level of quality from a product in this price range. This unit has a few major things going for it vs its Sony Walkman counterparts. First things first, the Sony Walkman music transfer to a micro SD card on a Mac is a serious pain in the ass and is uncomfortably glitchy. On this Hidisz ap80 pro- x, it's a breeze. Just put your micro sd card into the unit and then select "Update Database" and within a minute or two, you are good to. The sound of the Hidisz is on the bright side, but not uncomfortable at all. I tested this out with the Meze 99 Classics as well as the Massdrop/Sennheiser HD6xx. With a normal 3.5 mm, the Hidisz can drive the Meze's with no problem. With the Senneiser, it can't. So, I bought a pair of balanced cables and plugged them into the headphones and the 2.5mm "balanced" headphone jack on the unit and the difference was incredible. It could drive the Sennheiser (300ohm impedance) with no problem without a headphone amp. Incredible is the now the word I have to use. All of this in a tiny unit for under $200 at the time I bought these. The value is outstanding and I would not hesitate to recommend them. The user interface is easy and fuss free. With all of this said, here are a few things to note and consider: 1. The newest Sony Walkman NW-A105 sounds a bit better. The sound is more full and drawn out, it is noticeable. However the Sony is $350 vs the Hidisz at around $200. The Sony Walkman interface is ok, but, who the hell wants an android device sucking up all of that battery life. I really don't need to be online to enjoy music- otherwise, I would use my phone. The difference in sound is not worth the price if you are watching your pennies. 2. If you hook up the Hidisz to a headphone amp (I have a Modi/Magni Heresey Schiit stack and can get through about two albums of about 2 hours until it drains the battery on the Hidisz. As such, you can get around this battery drain by getting balanced cables on the 6xx or using a headphone like the Meze 99 classics which does not require a lot of juice to drive it. 3. The sound on the Sony Walkman NW-A45 (a few years older a model that the Sony Walkman NW-A105) is not as good as the Hidisz (regular 3.5) jack. Go figure. But, I like this model Walkman because you are not connected to Wifi and the battery life is great compared to the terrible battery life on the Walkman NW-A105. So, in reality, you should choose between the Hidisz and the NW-A105. Again if you want a slightly better sound with terrible battery life, annoying Android bloatware, a VERY confusing and cumbersome process of transferring files to the external micro sd card, and a cost of almost twice as much, go with the Walkman. But, in my opinion, the better value with almost as good as sound goes to the Hidisz hands down. You simply cannot beat this for under $200. It's easy to use and again, "surprisingly" good if not great. The only reason I am giving this a 4 star rating is because as a device there are better options out there. If I were grading it on the value, it would be 5 starts. But, strictly on the product itself, it's a solid 4 star. I did a lot of research on this before I bought all three DAP's. I am telling you, the Hidisz is no joke.

I should start off by saying that I'm pretty much a classical music only person, and even there most of the music I enjoy is from either the Baroque (Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, etc.) and the late Romantic/early Modern (Debussy, Ravel) periods. The point being that someone with broader interest, might have a different experience. I own different DAPs and a couple of phone dongles, and I bought this device to reduce bulk, hoping not to lose much in the way of sound quality. And compared to a much more expensive PDA, I perceive little difference. Yes, to drive demanding devices you will still need an amp, but when I'm out and around, I generally don't use such. Great device at an excellent price. I/ve been getting the damned cellphone out of my daily life, but don't want to leave my music behind. ...and no, I do not use it to read books; I suspect they just ported the software from a larger DAP.

After 3 months of use I really have mixed feelings about this device. It's the first HiRes music player I've owned and sometimes I'm really impressed and other times I'm frustrated with it. First of all it's TINY. Way smaller than it needs to be. That means the battery is much smaller than it could be. Doesn't last nearly as long as I'd like. For such a small touchscreen it looks good and works well. The frustration comes from the User Interface. It defaults to showing all your songs in alphabetical order. Really? Does anyone want to see all their songs in order by name? And there's no way to set a default view. I want to see the folders I've created. I have to click multiple times to finally display the folders. Dumb. Sound quality is good with some caveats: when listening through my stereo there's often clicks or pops between songs. No idea why. These are HiRes FLAC files I purchased. Plus the initial second or so (maybe 1/2 second?) of the song doesn't play. It's like it hasn't started outputting any signal when it starts playing the song. Annoying. Minor annoyance: step counter? E-book reader? On a postage stamp sized screen? Dumb. Remove them and fix the rest of the UI issues with a firmware update and I'll add a star. Often when I go to listen to music the battery is dead. No Idea why. Fortunately it can play music while charging. Pros: easy to add all my music to a microSD card and insert it in the player. As long as I have a tool to insert it into the slot. My fingernail won't do it. Supports large cards too. Awesome to have my entire music library on a portable device. Charges via USB-C which means it's easy to find a cable. Nice. Charges fast too. Sound quality is great using Earbuds, headphones and through my stereo speakers - except for the random pops and crackle noises between songs and when changing the volume. Probably fixable via firmware. Another pro: it plays every type of file I've tried. Obviously it's best to use HiRes FLAC but mp3 and mp4/AAC are also supported. Haven't found any music filetypes that aren't supported yet. Bluetooth works well however once you're in the player (vs step counter or whatever) it's tricky to get back to the Bluetooth settings menu to turn it on or pair a speaker. Summary: sound quality is great (can't compare to other players since I haven't tried any), battery life is too short, UI is frustrating.

Column of pixels died while sitting on charger for the first time out of box.

I've had this less than a year, and a couple months the screen has started to get fuzzy. Now more than half the screen is not even visible. I've reached out to the company and they don't even respond. I'd like to use the product or get it repaired somehow, but not much help right now. Amazon just redirects me to the company website which doesn't allow me to message them on amazon either.

I had to come to the realization that Cowan/Plenue is dead, dead, dead. To that end, this is my 2nd AP80 Pro-X, and I bought it so that I could always have a charged and ready unit, as well as a backup. If you know how to work MSEB and use the EQ as a constant, flat boost, you'll get your sound, and it WILL be loud without having to use any boosters. If you're into tight fitting buds for exercise, pair these with the wired JBL sport units, and the job is done. I can't use IEM's because NO ONE makes an earpiece that will make them truly tight and isolated in my ear. I always get "treble oxygen", and I HATE that. Anyway, put this thing in a good hard case that zips up, and wrap the unit beforehand in one of your little nylon "IEM/Bud bags", and you can this thing into ANY climate situation. It's a tough little box and the input jacks WILL NOT fart out, even with constant movement. A+++++++ (Bought again!)

Un très bon petit baladeur audiophile. Il a de la pêche comparé à mon vieux Sony a-105 (qui est bridé mais qui a tout de même un très bon son!). Simple d’utilisation, un excellent son qu’il est facile de régler à sa convenance! Si vous gardez les réglages neutres de base, le son sera très clair et cristallin. Pas de wifi, pas d’Android, donc pas besoin de faire des tonnes de mises à jour sur le PlayStore!!!! Éventuellement mettre à jour le firmware. Mon baladeur est arrivé avec la dernière version 1.1. Les choses dérangeantes : sur certains albums on entent un petit « pop » au changement de morceau. Le baladeur étant petit, certains affichages ne se font pas entier, on ne peut donc pas savoir à quoi correspondent certains paramètres présents dans les réglages .Enfin quand on allume le baladeur et qu’on va dans l’onglet musique, on tombe sur la liste entière de toutes les chansons par ordre alphabétique au lieu de tomber directement sur le classement par album, c’est étrange!!!! Les boutons marche\pause, avance, recul ne marchent qu’avec l’écran allumé, encore une étrangeté! Un regret : pas de radio comme dans la version précédente. Un plus : Le baladeur est livré avec des verres (plastiques) de protections à l’avant et à l’arrière installés en usine + 2 verres de remplacement. Attention, il marche avec une carte mini sd qui n’est pas fournie. Il faut l’acheter en plus. Un excellant DAP, superbe qualité de fabrication, mignon et très beau en bleu, vraiment contente de mon achat!

A brilliant music player that covers all formats.I use for my wav,flac,and DSD rips.Its easy to use and set up.I set the soundscape up to my liking via the function (I didn't have to use the EQ function).The software is by Hiby and it's easy to go through the menu.I paired is with some decent headphones and it has a lovely sound.One thing you may be surprised of is the size,it's Tiny.
