One of the reviews stated that the herring was too soft to lift with a fork. That sound terrible. Is that true?

No, the Matjes herring is not too soft. If someone found the herring too soft, it must have been a bad jar, perhaps stored improperly. We have ordered Matjes herring on several occasions and have had no trouble with it.
