Charles Jacobs Vinyl Record LP Storage Box Unit - Oak - Medium

When I was previously into vinyl many years ago I stored my collection in Habitat cubes which now hold my power tools. I could have dragged a couple out of the shed for my new collection but wanted something smarter. This storage unit certainly fits the bill. Yes it is only two boxes on top of each other and it is flat packed furniture but it appears to be better quality than most of the cheap stuff available. The concrete effect wrap is very attractive and well applied. Instructions are basic pictograms and simple to follow but I still managed to assemble it back to front. Be aware that the panel with the two tiny screw holes should face backwards. Once assembled it is light enough to manoeuvre easily empty but bear in mind that it will weigh nearly 30kg when full up. Rufus says that it is suitable for adding casters to the bottom. It holds records in protective sleeves and even when only half full they stay upright where they need to be for safe storage. I think the price is very good for this item and it comes very well packed with little risk of damage in transit. No tools are included and you will need a Phillips screwdriver. It fits together easily using the familiar pin and tightener method favoured by most self assembly furniture manufacturers but I would have liked the holes for the wooden dowels to have been a little snugger even if it would necessitate a hammer. I found after turning it over and tightening it all up that several had fallen out onto the floor and I wasn't going to dissemble it to put them back in. Maybe consider using a drop of wood glue for those.

This record unit is made from a very strong and sturdy mdf - not laminated chip board (which you usually get at this very affordable price). The fixings are metal which are easy to install and very strong. When the unit is built - which takes about 20 - 30 mins - it is completely solid, sturdy and quite heavy. There is no way the shelves will ever buckle or bow under the weight of your records. The description says the unit will hold up to 330 albums. I suppose if all of the albums are in simple sleeves, this would be possible. I filled mine up with a mixture of albums in simple sleeves, gatefold sleeves, box sets, double albums etc and got in a total of 214 albums. However, I have packed them quite loosely (to avoid ring-wear). The slim-line design is very convenient for me. I wanted to place the unit between the wall and a desk. There wasn't a millimetre to spare, so I am very glad that the measurements of the unit were completely accurate! I would highly recommend this storage unit. It is of excellent quality and is surprisingly cheap for what you get.

Very easy to put together and holds vinyl records well.

I bought this for my sons, ever expanding vinyl collection and it's just perfect! I'm not to good with flat packed furniture but this was easy to build, it's very sturdy and great value for money! So far, we've got around 30 vinyl lp's in one section and there's plenty of room for another 50 or so! This unit looks so stylish in my sons room, the woodgrain effect covers the whole unit, back and front so it can be placed anywhere in the room, it's small enough to fit into the smallest place. With a large storage capacity, this unit has really fulfilled our expectations!

Very sturdy and well made. Easy to assemble and excellent value for money. Will definitely be ordering more of these units for my ever expanding vinyl collection. Recommended.

I received my Charles Jacobs storage unit in really good time through Amazon. Unit was easy to put together, all parts available with a few spare screws and dowels. Unit is perfect for storing my vinyl collection, is sturdy and looks smart. I ordered the unit in White.

Lovely unit and delivered earlier than expected. Easy to put together but very heavy so I had to build it on the unit where it was going to stay. Looks very good holds lots of LPs although I have only filled one section so far.

Quality piece of furniture. Didn't rush assembly, but, on my own, was able to assemble the whole unit in around 25 minutes. Really hefty unit, very sturdy, especially the rear panel. So often with this type of furniture, it's just a flexible, thin sheet of fibreboard, but this one is a solid piece of MDF, the same thickness as the sides and shelves. Will definitely be buying other units.
